  1. When medically necessary it makes sense. Young kids simply don’t get bottom surgery. And there’s a ton of medical boundaries to cross before it’s possible for trans kids to get any kind of treatment. Bottom surgery is for when peoples bodies are developed enough.

  2. So you’re saying their healthcare should be restricted because they don’t know what they want… makes no sense and you wouldn’t apply this across the board. Kids don’t just go around saying “I’m trans” and get hormones. It’s a lengthy process with checks and balances with parents and medical professionals involved. Outcomes for young people who receive gender affirming care are very positive overall. Forcing trans kids to go through the wrong puberty is actual child abuse.

  3. When trans people go through the wrong puberty it can be extremely uncomfortable to the point of life threateningly so for them. With enough expert confirmation we can tell how sure people are to genuinely be trans and improve health and well-being for people drastically overall. But what you guys do is focus on the small minority of people who it doesn’t work out for and treat it as if it’s like half of them.

For some people maybe, but very often it’s something innate with how they are born and feel inside and are incompatible with the way their body is. Alleviating this incompatibility by making it so they arent forced to go through the puberty they’re not comfortable with until they’re sure is the most free and medically beneficial option

  35. That’s not what’s happening, seriously. You’re being swept into a radical political movement where evidence is being washed over. This is a nuanced discussion, but simply, kids are not having their genitals cut off as gender affirming care. After jumping through a lot of medical barriers and support by both parents and medical professionals, kids are given either puberty blockers so they can decide when they’re older if they’re sure about which puberty they want to go through, or again after rigorous medical confirmation, are given hormone therapy so they can go through the correct puberty that aligns with what they innately feel inside.

  44.  @ChamberedMaiden  except sex ed DOES help prevent sexual abuse. Giving kids the ability to understand these concepts so they’re less vulnerable to exploitation works. You should look up the data on this, sex ed saves kids from exploitation. Sex ed isn’t teaching kids morals or whatever, it’s understanding what things such as rape, consent, condoms, other birth control, disease prevention, etc are so kids can control their own relationships and stay safe. It’s just teaching kids about these important concepts rather than teaching kids that they should or shouldn’t have sex or with who. That’s the point of education and that’s all sex ed is and should be. Why you’d be against this when it’s arguably more vital to kids safety than most other subjects is weird to me.
