@JOptional-m1w . I an quite serious . There is already a Type of reactor , in use , that uses the depleted " Waste Fuel " from a regular Reactor , as its Heat source . The waste from THAT reactor can go directly back to the " Fresh Fuel " smelting Process . These are Technologies in use RIGHT NOW . By all means , continue developing Solar , but be aware that it can never be suitable for Base-Load Power supply . Solar only " produces " for half the day AT BEST . Peak Output window is actually only 3 hours long .

Anyways , Solar is effective for Off-Grid Dwellings and supplemental on individual Houses . Also good for RV's and also 4WD Over-landers . HOWEVER , in Each Case there , an Auxiliary Generator of some kind IS required to keep things on an even Keel . Your Typical " Off Grid " setup is : Solar panel covered Roof , A Windmill , A Water wheel in the Creek nearby and , of course , a Battery Bank to even things out , but ALSO a Diesel/Petrol Generator for those times when everything Else has failed for whatever reason . And RV's/4WD's have an Alternator on the Engine , because that's just the way they come . Yes ? Get it out of your Head that Solar and Wind will EVER be viable as the ONLY source of electric Power . Don't " Buy In " to Black-Out Bowen's Scaremongering and all around B/S and rhetoric .

The Waste from THIS reactor can actually go back to the Smelter plant making New Uranium from Ore . By all means , continue developing Solar Technology , but be aware that Solar will NEVER be adequate for Baseload Power generation . Only "Makes Power " for half the day . And that's the bit of the Day with LOW LOAD .

Containerised and Road Transportable . So the Options are multiple . You still wish to advocate for KNOCKING DOWN THE FORESTS TO BUILD SOLAR FARMS AND WIND FARMS it would seem . Also , Japan built the Station ON TOP of a Geological Fault . Australia is a VERY geologically stable Continent . It's pretty clear to me that you are one of Albo's " Cheer Squad . No-one is against Renewable Energy ! However , YOU need to get it through your head that Renewables can NEVER be a Stable Baseload providing option . You are , in fact , advocating bulldozing Forests to Build Wind Farms or Solar Arrays . You know , Forests that actually RECYCLE CO2 out of the Air and produce Oxygen . Listen Pal , I don't honestly give a Flying F*ck if they keep using Coal , just as long as they Produce STABLE BASELOAD POWER . That said , I would PREFER that Coal as a Fuel Source was eliminated . Of course Coal will always remain necessary for Other Industrial processes , such as Steel production . It's You that has the " Hard On " for the unrealistic notion of " Renewables Only " being able to produce STABLE Power for an Industrialised , First World Country going into the Future . It CANNOT NOW , and is VERY unlikely to in ANY foreseeable future time . Some Facts for you : Solar Power only produces at Peak output for about 15-20% of any given day , MAXIMUM , assuming that the Sun IS actually shining . You know , no clouds . Wind Turbines , or rather , Winds in General are utterly unreliable . Based on everything I have stated above , I deem it Excellent Economic Sense to pursue Uranium Fueled Power generation , here in Australia . The the Power Plants are actually really Safe these days , and we have excellent Geological Stability . Earth tremors are RARE and Minor when they do happen . We have the Worlds third largest reserves of Uranium , that we already Sell to other Markets . To be quite Blunt Pal , I couldn't care less if they just kept using Coal AS LONG AS THEY PRODUCE STEAD , RELIABLE Baseload Power . I WOULD however PREFER that Coal was phased out as a Fuel source . It will , of course , always have Other Industrial uses though , regardless . It isn't me with " The Bone " , it's You . Solar Power is only effective for a Maximum of 20% of any given Day , and that assumes the Sun is Actually Shining , you know , No Clouds . And Wind is even Less dependable . Those can Never Hope to provide STABLE , Reliable Power for a First World , Industrialized Nation . We need something DEPENDABLE that Solar and Wind can be a Supplement to .
