The Major problem that Rome encountered was this . Scotland was inhabited by Warring Tribes/Clans , but , EVERY Man Woman and Child , was a Proud Scot . They squabbled over their own territories , but if any OTHER " Mob " invaded Scotland , they forgot there LOCAL territorialism and Joined Forces against a Common Enemy . And all would provide succour to all other tribes DURING this . And Safe Passage Home to Ancestral Lands AFTER " The Affray " . A " Hard as Stone " people , and Honourable as well . After a Brief Hiatus , Local Squabbles would start again . Business as usual . They were not as Murderous amongst themselves as Legend would have . But Generations of Territorial war made them Truly a Force to be reckoned with . Someone NOT of Scotland , but on their Land , was " Killing Practice " .
