From a technical perspective human life begins at conception. This matters and it carries moral weight. IVF involves the process of creating lots of human lives, killing many of them and allowing a select few to survive (reminds me of the Calvinist "elect", maybe this is why y'all are so pro IVF). Do some human lives carry more moral weight than others? Probably. A young kid, a 90 year old, a pdf file, an embryo, and a comatose do not have the same moral worth when it comes to ending their lives. Never creating a life when you otherwise could isn't the same as killing a life but they're not that far apart morally. IVF poses an interesting ethical dilemma. Which is worse: never creating life or killing nascent life?

Your question really exposes the flaw in their outlook. Perhaps this is correct but determining future outcomes often requires a near omniscient level of knowledge of the inputs. I believe only God has the privilege of being utilitarian. For everyone else its usually a way to justify means

Malcolm surely doesn't believe we ought not enforce the prohibition of murder? Certain Muslims value tossing gays from roof tops. We ought to enforce a prohibition of that no?
