yeah most of the studies I've read that people cite to claim "marriage good for men" compare unmarried men vs married men. Only some of them look at never married and all of them suffer from cohort contamination, certain types of men get married and certain types of men never marry. Those that never marry often are more risk taking or unfit/unhealthy to marry. There is no fair rigorous comparisons of the life outcomes of otherwise normal average men average married outcome vs never married. I'm sure successful marriages are good long term. The single best predictor of long term physical and mental health are good relationships/social climate. But those are the vast minority of marriages. I've seen a few well reasoned ad hoc comparisons and they seem to indicate that if you tease out the risk vs benefits of each life paths marriage on the average is a losing a bet.

@thetaxgawd to young women taking that risk while they're young and can get the attention of near limitless men (resources) it just isn't worth it. Especially when the relative benefit is smaller than was historically the case due to kneecapping men and giving those legs to women as stilts (dei, affirmative action, women initiatives/interest groups/scholarships, welfare, taxes siphoned from men to women, HR/bureaucracy etc...). Men especially not young men are generally not worth the risk (career, lifestyle, optionality) for young women

Women absolutely still need men to provide for them. They are the only reason private debt is increasing (rapidly). They are net drain on tax funds (men are net contributors). They rely on men for infrastructure and protection. 99% of combat deaths are male, 98% of workplace deaths are male. As a state and a society we have implemented enumerable policies that explicitly kneecap men so women can stand on our severed limbs as stilts and claim they achieved equality. Weirdly we stop marrying and continuing the species when that happens. Women are only interested in taller men.

To steal your labor and to use violence to suppress the opportunities of men that are inherent to male dominated free competition so all the single women can continue to live comfortably.
