  1. Malcolm consistently rags on opulent temples and it makes sense considering his calvinist origins but there is some overlooked good in them. The magnificence and beauty of them orients visitors upwards (the architecture explicitly does this) towards the highest good (God). There's a sense of inspirational awe at these wonders our ancestors worked on their entire lives and died before they saw their great great great grandchildren complete.
