  1. Do you have any IT knowledge? If not, I would start with the IT Fundamentals (ITF+) certification. Its an entry-level cert for people who are new to IT and/or not sure if IT is the right field for them. From there, you can move up to the A+ then Net+ (or Cisco CNA if you're into networking). If you already have a fair amount of hands-on computer knowledge, you can likely skip the ITF+ and go straight for the A+.

  4. Probably not, but some organizations can be picky about certs over experience. I would probably just look over a few A+ training courses on YT (like Professor Messer) just to make sure you feel confident in what the A+ courses teach.

  5. You got lucky. In my town, my local library has computer/IT books from around 2004 and older. They've remodeled the library a few years ago, but I haven't been there since before they remodeled it. Its great if you want to learn about Microsoft Office 2000 or Mac OS X Tiger or Windows Server 2003.

  6. Could be possible, but depending on where you live, it may be difficult to find an IT job at your age. In general, a lot of companies won't hire underage people for tech jobs. Don't let that discourage you, however. Definitely learn as much as you can. If you happen to have an old computer, use that to learn and experiment with. It doesn't need to be fancy or even functional. Also, see if you can ask any small and local businesses in your area to see if they may need some tech help. Sometimes, it can be as simple as just connecting a printer to a computer or setting up a basic wifi router. Sometimes you just have to start small.

  7. There are countless books, study guides, and videos all over the place. Professor Messer has some pretty good videos on his channel for various CompTIA certifications. I used Mike Meyers' A+ study guide from around 2010. I also strongly suggest getting yourself an old computer to play around with and learn with.

  8. If you have a strong interest in networking, I would go for the CCNA. It is geared specifically for Cisco stuff. If you plan on working in cybersecurity in the future, it does greatly help to have a solid understanding of computer networks.

  10. Security deals with networking concepts. You'll need to have a good understanding of networks to do well in security, so it only makes sense you start with the Net+.

  13. The CCNA is primarily intended for people who are interested in a career in computer networking and for people who will be working with Cisco equipment. You can take the certification, but it likely won't help you that much, at least the Cisco-specific stuff. At the end of the day, its your choice, If you're not going to be a network administrator programming routers and switches, I don't think its that important to get the certification.

  14. Yes, no, maybe. Certifications don't guarantee you a job. They can definitely help, but a lot depends on your local job market, luck, interview, interviewer(s) and a few other factors.

  15. Its up to you. However, a lot of these higher level IT concepts build on each other. For cyber security, it helps to have a good understanding of computer networks. Think about it. A lot of computers get hacked through their network. If you don't know anything about computer networks, it likely will be difficult to understand parts of your cyber security training like ARP spoofing attacks, MITM attacks, etc. If you want to be a car mechanic, for instance, you need a solid understanding of all of the components in a car, how they work, and how their job affects the car as a whole. If you know nothing about how cars work and try jumping straight engine performance and tuning, you're going to have a pretty tough time understand what's going on.

  17. My suggestion is to take many steps back. Its great if you want to get into cyber security, but you're trying to jump into the very deep end of the pool right off the bat. Its like wanting to work on engine performance and tuning engines without even understanding the basics of how engines work. If you have absolutely no knowledge about computers, I suggest starting with the IT Fundamentals+. Its an entry level IT cert for people who are brand new to the IT industry and/or not sure if the IT field is a good fit for them. You can then move onto the A+ which deals with computer repair and some general IT concepts used in businesses like printers, servers, and networking. From there, you can move onto the Network+ which goes deeper into computer networking which is beneficial to learn for cyber security. You can then branch off to things like Security+ or Pentest+ or other cyber security-oriented trainings and certifications. You don't need to be an expert to start off, but it greatly helps to have a solid IT foundation before moving onto the more advanced areas of IT. Think about it. If you're wanting to learn about cybersecurity, its imperative to understand the technologies you're working on very well.

  19. You don't necessarily need any fancy computer. I would go with a semi-modern Intel or AMD CPU (within the past 5-6 years should be fine), at least 16 GB of RAM, and at least a 500 GB SSD.

  21. Sure. There's no exact age limit in regards to the A+. Start learning as much as you can. If you happen to have an old PC laying around, use that to learn and practice with. It doesn't need to be new or even functional, but bonus points if you can get it to work. See if your school offers any IT/computer courses and take advantage of them. Sometimes they can offer an exam voucher where you can take the cert tests for free.
