I know my answer is like 5 months late, but I thought I'd answer. Yes, you can use these in a home setting. I personally run an AP-AC Lite at home and it works great. I regularly have 10-20 devices connected to it without any problems. In the beginning, the only hard part for me was understanding how to setup the AP. Basically, you don't directly manage the AP like you would with a typical home router. You have to either buy a Cloud Key device to manage the APs or you can install the free software from Ubiquiti (UniFi) that will turn your PC into the controller. From here, you can adopt the AP and configure it however you want.

To configure the APs, you need the UiniFi software on your PC to manage/configure or buy a Cloud Key. Once they're configured to your liking, you just need to connect your client devices to the Wi-Fi network just like any other Wi-Fi you would connect to.
