  1. Yep. My dad came from Mexico to the US in the mid-1980s. Back then, the only jobs available to a lot of migrants were back-breaking agriculture labor jobs. Working 10+ hours daily in 100 F + (37 C +) weather for menial pay, no health insurance or benefits and little to no advancement. Whenever my siblings and I would 'complain' about how stressful school was, he would say that its better being stressed out about school rather than working in the fields for many hours. Definitely puts things into perspective.
