  1. Even within the same state that's true. I know California has a high cost of living. However, a 100k salary where I live in northern California would be a pretty good salary. You won't live a luxurious life style but you will be quite comfortable. The hardest part is finding a job here that does pay 100k/year. I live in a semi-rural farming community that has relatively few high paying jobs.
