I tend to agree, but sometimes you have to know when to let go. I had a 2005 ford taurus. It's a decent car about about 9 months ago, the transmission died; more specifically the torque converter. I was extremely lucky that my dad is a mechanic and helped me fix it. He doesn't work on transmissions, but he knows enough to know what was damaged and how to replace it. I spent over $400 and many hours removing the engine and transmission. If I had taken it to a shop, that job likely would have cost far more than what the car is worth.

I was explaining that to my aunt in Mexico. We would sometimes see trucks from the US in her town and she was always amazed at how large they were. They were comically large compared to actual work trucks in Mexico. And I was telling her about the EPA garbage and how ironic it was.

The Hilux would be pretty cool in the USA.

I wouldn't necessarily say they're all crap. My first car was a 2001 Ford Taurus. Not a glamorous car, but it did the job well for nearly 4 years. I bought it with 179k miles and when I gave it to my aunt down in Mexico, it had 211k miles. Last I heard, it had over 239k miles and still runs great on the original transmission and engine. The suspension has taken a significant beating with the horrid roads down in Mexico though.

😆😆😆 How are they going to help? Not to get political, but we all know they don't care about us, the common man. They only care about themselves.

Not really. Its hard to get around without a car in most areas. There are public transit options, but they're usually not great. And if you're in less populated areas, you're pretty much out of luck without a car. So much for the "land of the free".

My 2001 and 2005 Ford Taurus would disagree. They're not fantastic vehicles, but they get the job done.

We don't have that in the USA.

Its a difficult mentality to understand. People think that a larger vehicle is more safe or more "manly" especially the large diesel pickup trucks.

I don't think effective mass transit will be the norm in the USA. Atleast not with the incoming administration.

So you're saying we should have absolutely no emissions standards? We can just pollute like no tomorrow? Doesn't sound good. I've been to Mexico where a lot of cars, especially old vehicles have no catalytic converter and it reeks of fuel. Its not uncommon to see semi-trucks and busses spewing black smoke all over the place....

Well luckily we have plenty of dumbasses

The car manufacturers actively lobby against public transit. Its also very ingrained in a lot of the population that freedom is synonymous with car ownership.

Yep. Where I live in California, we only have 1 electric power provider and they have raised prices about 4 times this year. PG&E's greed and incompetence has caused numerous forest fires in California over the years. And as a result of those fires, they increased the prices for everyone so that they can "improve" their infrastructure and bury many thousands of miles of electric lines in the coming decade. Its great. And also, there's a new gas tax in California because we're apparently getting "cleaner" fuel which will cause prices to increase even more. Just great.
