My town of 66k people has no computer stores other than Staples. However, they have a very limited selection of very low end hardware at high end prices.

  4. Where I live, we have only have a Staples, but they have a very limited selection of very low end computer parts at high end prices, so I rarely buy anything from there. Unfortunately in my case, I really have no feasible option other than to buy online or drive 40 miles to the nearest BestBuy or Fry's Electronics. So although I do sometimes buy from Fry's, it is more convenient for me to buy online through Newegg, Amazon, or eBay.

  5. I ordered a hard drive a few years ago from Amazon and it came well protected and certainly not in a bubble mailer.

  6. I do that all the time from eBay, Amazon, Newegg, etc and have never really had any problems. We have no electronics stores nearby, so its more convenient for me.

  7. That's interesting. At the Bestbuys near me (within the Sac, CA area), most of them barely have any PC parts selection. However, the nearby Fry's have a lot more selection in PC parts.

  8. Even then, at the few Best Buys I've been to in California (Sacramento, Roseville, Chico, and Fairfield), they have a very small selection of PC parts.

  9. I live in Norcal, and the nearest ones to me are in Sacramento and Roseville. One issue I do see with the Sacramento one is that it seems disorganized most of the time. Some products are scattered throughout the store. It seems like they don't really know where to place stuff.
