  2. Diesel is generally more expensive than gasoline. There's higher taxes on that in the US. And plus there's a lot of emissions regulations regarding diesels that it doesn't make sense for auto manufacturers to make diesel vehicles except for heavy duty trucks and semi trucks. A lot of people, especially those who drive diesels, have an extreme hatred of those regulations because it causes a lot of issues with the emissions related components that they delete them.
