  1. Fiscal economic responsibility? What does that mean? We can’t afford to nationalise water. But we can’t afford not to.And in return for purchasing it, we get our asset back. No expert but a balance sheets includes assets a s well as liabilities doesn’t it? No more prioritising borrowing for shareholder dividends over keeping sewage out of our waterways.

  2. Steve, I see it as a technicality driven by whatever criteria/standards the governing bodies choose to adopt regards the treatment of assets (and they may be pan European). Brexit means we're 'free' apparently, so let's for once, put that to good use. The US and Switzerland often go their own way and most of our European cousins are not reckless/short sighted enough to create the mess the Tories have created, so it's maybe not such an issue for them?
