@Nicksonian Veganism and the "healthy" food industry largely doesn't care about the environment. Also to put it bluntly how spoiled one needs to be to actually live a vegan life. I find them to be hypocritical. Specifically the organic crowd who have no idea what they are talking about most of the time. Non GMOs plants first off require more land and water to grow. They produce less food per acre, and aren't resistant against pests or severe weather causing food shortages. Sure those of us in first world countries don't care as we won't die from starvation. So we are lucky. You have to go out of your way to be a vegan and get your nutritional needs met. That means having out of season or fresh plants and products shipped across the world. We are so lucky we have access to a ton of different fruits and vegetables at any given moment... Let alone being able to afford such luxuries. Lastly dairy is amazing. Ounce for ounce milk is god tier nutritionally and packed with calories. There is a very good reason why the lactose gene spread so fast. It is sad it is demonized now and people who are earth warriors think that almond milk is somehow better. The water stress for almond milk is insane. Anyway one thing we need to do is be more efficient. I think focusing on not wasting food we do have should be a priority yet we are taking steps backwards since people feel all preservatives are freaken unhealthy. Or that one should only eat fresh fruits and veggies. It is madness.
