I was just watching a Nissan commerical, and thinking whoa. What happened? The cars are so uninspired, and boring. Same thing for 30 years. It is a shame. If Nissan embraced EVs, and gave us Japanese Tuner EVs that can be customized. Fast, quick, without the gimmicks like high tech this or that. Open source or something. Embracing 3rd party customization They'd kill it. I cant beleive we live in a world with Elon Musk as POTUS, and Kia outperforming Nissan. To be fair. Kia deserves all the attention they get. They made a gamble embracing EVs, and it is paying off. Got 60k dollar Kias with the performance of a Porsche. I'd whip a EV6, and loving the Ev4.

@chinaman1 Yeah, because European car manufacturers are making slow, over priced EVs. Germanys entire car industry is a mess, and so what is your point? ICE sales are still declining in nearly every country, including every European one.. BEV sales are UP globally including many European countries like the UK Just not western ones, like Germany. BEV sales declined just slightly. ICE sales across the board. So be real. European market, and industry is a mess right now getting whipped by China globally. (American legacy except Tesla.)

Thank you. Waygu has so many urban myths surrounding it... Like the cows get massaged all day in a tempature controlled environment eating some special food that is better than even what we eat ourselves all while listening to Mozart in a hot tub. Personally I think it is over rated. Too much fat for me honestly even if it is "intramuscular". Give me a good strip steak thanks. Also people don't realize it is the breed of cow that matters the most. Cannot buy the cows the Japanese use but American and Australia are developing their own which I hear can be just as good.

Am I missing the breakthrough or something? Feel like we watched two different videos outside the fact China is further then what people thought. It doesn't surprise me as China has to people and money. Yet one thing I gotta give the CCP for all my disdain of them is the fact they can focus and pivot entire populations like no other government. There is a toll for underestimating your rivals. Like he said the sanctions did not go far enough.
7
Yeah Americans just don't want to deal with the environmental effects of refining rare earths. Not worth it ATM so if we can put the burden on an other country and pay them well enough? We will. This will just hurt for a bit at most. We will either use an other metal or it will be lucrative enough we give in. Also more importantly America is taking the threat of China seriously and will put in the money for security if they feel it is necessary. I also hope we start securing things in the artic along with our Canadian and European allies.
7
It is all relative. Yet if you don't think the government plays favorite. Look no further than the Defense Industry my man. When was the last time you've heard of a small company actually getting a contract? Sometimes I get it. You don't want manufacturers to fail. It is worth the investment to keep them, and their chains alive.. Other countries aren't playing fair themselves, and companies need all the help they can get in such a competitive environment. Reagan was not a pure libertarian ya know? Still a politician, haha.
7
What do those juggernauts all have in common? They are supported and backed by their government. Now let's hope our politicians in America realize how important it is to make it possible for companies to succeed. (Without corruption of course). I know the US military after seeing Russia and Ukraine go through reserves so quickly is in the process of seeing how they can improve manufacturing.

Haha right? Live in NJ. Nissan Ultimatas definitely everywhere. My aunt even had one. This videos timing is crazy. I was just watching a commerical, and the cars were hideous, and uninspired. Im like what happened? What are these blobs. How the hell is KIA out doing Nissan? It is sad. Nissan to me was a stylish brand with fast cars. They should have gone down Kias route. Redesign, and focus back on japanese tuners, but with BEV. Dude if Nissan gave us a fast, cheap, EVs that can be customized. One just focused on driving performance over high tech gimmicks. High tech with motors/batteries/AWD. They'd kill it IMO.

This technology among with passive cooling is pretty interesting. I just saw a video a few weeks back about this system that was completely electricity free using both evaporative and radiative cooling. Those systems have been around but this one had potential to freeze water! I was out of it on dialysis so forgive me, but they could already get pretty close to freezing. I beleive 41.1 but the materials were not there yet. Ugh wish I could find the video or team! These systems are great for decentralization regardless if other methods are used.
4
Well if we had fusion we could just skip it all and just use salt water allowing nature to do its thing instead of taking from fresh water sources. Wish we could figure out what to do with the brine though.
4
@katiebarber407 A lot of people in the west laud the Dussian scientists and what they have done so what are you talking about? When you think of an other country for space you think of Russia. Not Japan, Europe, South Korea, China, or India. Just because people don't randomly talk about Russia mid conversation doesn't mean anything. "Ah this weather, brutal, am I right? Nothing like Venus though! Russia landed on Venus multiple times ha, amazing isn't it?" Landing on the moon was a big deal politically for both sides. The space race was a good way for us to flex our military muscle back then and so putting large funds into space development which would indirectly help military development was paramount.

@sidewinder3422 Hey know any other creators that do deep dives on manufacturing? Would love to AsianT here to do a deep dive on the F 35 and how many suppliers and manufacturers it takes to build it. I think each country has parts it specializes in.

@tomnewham1269 If it is based off the Swedish Gotland class then yeah jt should be silent. That's the one sub that kept sunk a carrier not once but a second time a year later in wargames. The US Navy was so frustrated we fucking leased them to learn how to best combat them. The UK Astute class is getting a lot of attention as it should, but I'm definitely looking forward to the new SSNX and Bleking. Sadly I'll be dead though by the time they come out if I don't get a liver transplant. Still though if it's that loud anywhere that is an issue. You ideally don't want anyone to know where you are at any time even for a moment as they can then narrow it down and try to follow ya.

@autohmae What? ICE engines less complex? Yeah maybe a simple two stroke... Yet a modern ICE in your car is much more complex than a battery powered EV. I mean the tolerances and materials used. The air fuel mixture! The oil! All the moving parts working in unison over bumps and in different atmospheres. It is insane how complex a modern car is and that doesn't include things like the exhaust flow or catalytic converter. Ugh... Transmissions are insane! Sorry man I think you're over complicating EVs somehow. It is because we've been using ICE engines for 100 years that we can make the damn things so well. Battery technology or chemistry really held back electric cars. Now however thst is changing. I hope I get to see iron oxide magnets get incorporated into stuff. They - in theroy - can make the strongest permanent magnets which can revolutionize a lot of industries! Make a lot things more efficient or wickedly powerful small motors.

5g was for a different urban saturated market. It definitely isn't trying to compete for rural areas. Star Link is hard to beat already for some, and will only improve. I hear 5g will be needed with more and more phones requiring so much more data. Apps are getting crazy heavy just to use, cars want telemetry, cloud computing AI, etc. Please correct me if I am wrong, as I read that in passing. Yet there is only so much traffic right? They say there is 6g already nearly here in under five years, but not sure what it will be compromised of. Some say terahertz. Which is nuts if we have issues sending gigahertz. Still waiting on those blimps shooting lasers.
3
It is a shame we can't all get along. Hate geopolitics. YT also loves to demonitized videos when it comes to talking about China (and of course Taiwan). Even if the video isn't pure bias and touches lightly on facts. I do think many countries need to get their behinds in gear though to be self sufficient. Globalization is a blessing but also can be a curse. Look at Russia who we come to realize can't make many parts for their weapons and source components from specialized western companies with shell companies and such. The amount of western tech found in the Ukraine is quite outstanding from what I'm told.

Joke went over my head... Can someone let me into the loop? Damn reminds me of the old fridge prank call joke.
3
@Bell_plejdo568p Yes if the cost of energy went down desalination would be hands down the best option for getting fresh water since most of the earth is covered in it and most of our major cities are on the coasts anyway. Systems like this will never be used for truly large scale. Great for decentralized locations and for towns and such in remote places. Yet for manufacturing and agriculture? No way these will ever relieve even 20% of the burden.
3
Why do FABs use so much water? It's insane to me and we are multiple ones are being built in Arizona, haha.
2
We need biological parts damn it. Imagine having bio machinery that constantly regenerated. Someone needs to design biological gears and ball bearings!
2
Why? Unlike fusion powrr graphene is already in use from tech to medicine. It just isn't cheap and easily mass produced. That is the issue. I bet it is a pain to work with a 2d material, and so quality control must be a pain. That is an assumption. Either way it is a proven super material that is already being used. The price to create it is dropping. We will get there. Aluminum was more expensive than gold. Now look at it!
2
@thebandofbastards4934 Yup I know and other companies TSMC are opening up in Nevada. Which is a bizarre choice - thought Nevada had water issues and plants need a lot. Then Micron with their massive factory in NY. I thought there was a few others out west but can't remember. Samsung I believe is expanding. Hopefully we can catch up. While the newest chips won't really benefit me - they are important for AI I guess so I'm glad we are getting into gear.
2
That is what Tesla seems to be primarily focused on. Their end in manufcaturing quite honestly. I feel like that's what investors keep investing in anyway and why Tesla is a juggernaut. Still waiting to see a Cyber Truck. Feel like that thing is on limbo for ages. Now if only Tesla will add buttons and knobs into their cars? I would buy one even if it meant I had to pay extra. Absolutely hate the interior look and touchscreens just don't have that tactile feeling nor are they easier to always navigate. Better then a touch pad though hahaha. Seen some guy in a 140k Benz showing how difficult it was to change the heated seats and it was quite the process. Would take a master to do that while driving haha.

Thought you said you don't like it. I was like GTFO don't listen to this user Asian! This guy is so informative when he brooches a subject and I love every bit of it when he does. Even on topics I wouldn't find interesting. Didn't really care about manufacturing till I stumbled across this channel. My views on manufcaturing were stuck in the past. Modern Marvels was about my knowledge base and that is shallow looking back. So agreed with ya mate.

@ArawnOfAnnwn Well TBH there aren't many products that China creates that you can't find home grown or from a close ally. China's strength in manufacturing comes from output and how quickly they can maneuver an entire factory for a cheaper product. Not to mention their factories have all the suppliers right there which is incredibly useful. We buy things from China due to them being able to produce them cheaper. I'm not sure what field China excels in TBH that other countries don't have locked down. I know they are catching up though and will surpass us. Say what you will about the CCP but it can get fires burning much faster than western governments. I want to see Asian do a deep dive on the F 35 and suppliers. He opened my eyes to the world of manufacturing and how important it is to have a base. On top of how many specialized cogs and belts are required in the machine to create a final product we basically take for granted. Things you simply cannot just throw money at or pay for expertise.
1
@JaSon-wc4pn Man that's like saying blame the jews for it. Blame the cartels and more importantly the consumer. If people weren't willing to pay for these outrageous prices then they would be sold for less. Diamonds do have some crazy properties too. Still want to see what a diamond edged sword would be like even if it isn't ideal. Or some body armor with a solid diamond plate(or scales) sandwiched between Kevlar. Now we just need to be able to reproduce some spider silk. Madagascan spider silk is the strongest or toughest Fibre KNOWN IIRC. Since carbon nanotubes are like fusion and always a decade ahead.
1
@notanymore9471 What happens to that elatively pure water? Is it recycled? Edit Typo.
1
@janusjones6519 Again even the chip isn't a breakthrough. They still require foreign tooling and other things that are just as important. It is like saying you put together a 2018 car by yourself without instructions with some of the pieces like the transmission already built. An achievement for sure. I fail to see the breakthrough.
1
India - let other countries, and companies do the hard work for research, and to make sure it is safe. Spend millions upon millions for a product that may not work. Finally find success. Then India comes out, and steals it like a bunch of thieves. It is a tricky subject. Big pharma can absolutely suck. Yet stealing is also BS. They aren't putting up the financial burden of finding a drug. They just come along, see it works, and copy it.
1
That's because as technology advances the complexity does as well. So more specialized and expertise is needed. At least I read that in a book. Also always keep up with new changes for whatever field you're in. Never know when something will blow up.
1
@CautionCU Yeah right. America media is full of Americans just crapping on each other and liberals versus conservatives are even worse. Its practically a pass time for Americans to point out how shit America is - the world knows and hears everything bad about it.

Seems like the Ukraine war has made many western countries including the US realize that they've been lacking and relying on the US too much. (Was reading comments from some soldiers from Germany and UK and they said their logistics need to improve. Also weapon procurement in Germany is a beaucratic hell hole.) We can't even keep up with orders. (Especially Lockheed. Where the hell does all the money go? Expand your fucking manufacturing base). As an American citizen I want our allies to have their own defense industry and be self reliant. Globalization is both a blessing and a curse in this regards. We are learning Russian weapons use a lot of western components. I think all countries can take a page from Isreal, Sweden, and South Korea. I don't expect everyone to turn into Poland who is going ham gobbling up weapons but its nice to have a goverment that supports a robust defense industry that has a lot of highly skilled and specialized workers. I wish I had information on how many companies are involved directly and indirectly in the production of a single F-35. From those who create the materials to those who build the computers.
1
@kitolz Yeah I am just a measly pleb but I can see it good for like a five portion meal. Even those I don't like! Give me my meal damn it. Appetizers out 3 minutes before the meal or at the sane time please, yes the kitchen will hate me but I don't mind waiting to finally eat. Pack the desert for late tonight or tomorrow morning okay thanks! Maybe becsuse I grew up poor.. Like my friend said... "You're a cheap little fucker aren't ya". Haha. Well that was me before I became ill. Haven't gone out. Dying is expensive! Do want to try lobster before I die.

@boggisthecat Between the Ukarine war and TSMC being in the top news? I never really appreciated the manufacturing industry. I pictured steel mills and the auto industry. Never really payed any attention to how specialized manufacturers are incredibly important to many things and we should support them as it isn't as easy to get it back up to snuff. Manufacturers like TSMC who rely on ASLM for their UAVs who rely on Carl Guiez to create mirrors. All three need ultra pure water systems and who makes those? I don't know! Who's making the measuring tools... Who's making the tools. It makes me wonder how many specialized manufacturers are required to build a single F-35. HOPING he will go down that rabbit hole or for other sophisticated technologies. From those who create the raw materials to the myriad of vast electronics, and RAM! PS English is such a bastardized language. Had to think if it's payed or paid. Maybe if I payed attention in school I would know. I don't so I am rolling with payed.

As an American all I hear about Australia is. Energy. Usually coal. Like that whole coal issue with China for example. The Navy. Making that Submarine has ruffled so many feathers from France and Japan! (Glad you guys decided to make them at home BTW.) And Venemous or Poisonous things haha. JFK why couldn't you guys have more large mammals instead of shit like invisible Box Jellyfish or some crazy spider that will rot your arm off!
1
ASLM + Whoever the hell makes their stuff and TSMC are insane. Surprised they aren't worth more TBH, and it's crazy what they do. I still don't understand ASLM isn't in the FAB industry.
1
@juno1597 ASLM is the second half of that coin. TSMC doesn't make the EUVs neccessary for 5nm.
1
@Celis.C Yup. Like who makes those mirriors and who makes the tools that - THAT company uses to make those mirriors and so on. Who makes the measuring tools for such precision. 8,000 suppliers mostly in the west for ASLM. 130 mil per EUV machine with handfuls being built per year. I remember reading the hardest part of making a nuclear bomb was the engineering and material aspect and not the theroy or design. It's insanely impressive and that's without the architecture and designs of the chips themselves. Truly underrated and we as consumers expect more and more every year.
1
I'm not sure what you mean vacuum tubes are overlooked. He brought them up, but didn't talk about it. Yet usually in any discourse over the history of the computer vacuum tubes are talked about. I wanna know how long they were weaving memory for. Saw a memory circuit from a Soviet missile I think. It was woven and had little rings that threads were passed through making a grid.

Prions are alien life coming to consume us all! No one can tell me otherwise. I have no clue how prions haven't spread to us all. They are like a zombie alien cancer. Hard to destroy. Immune system cannot do anything against it. Drugs can't do anything last time I checked. No treatments. Yeah prions scare me.
1
Yeah I thought the same thing. Feel like that is the simplest way. Always been told they work via changes in temp, but I've never seen one using cold temps.
1
Zeiss is the one making the lenses. Can't be giving out their secrets. Honestly I thought he said ISIS while my phone was in my pocket. That makes more sense. I was like ha, like ISIS cannot even make a black light. Let alone any lens.
1
@anthonyxuereb792 War is ugly. You're going to find all sides did terrible shit. Make no mistake a land invasion of Japan would have been the bloodiest and most gruesome battle of WWII. The Japanese people as we know it would be basically wiped out due to their culture of fighting to the last man - I believe they literally would. The Atomic bombs saved what was left of Japan. Also war crimes... Ever read about Manchuria? Unit 731? Just how the Japanese treated any prisoners, women and children alike? Strawman at its finest my dude.

😊😊😊😊

As an American I think AU should build their own submarines and work together. I want my allies to be powerful and have their own manufacturing capabilities supported by their government. We are seeing how Russia is dealing with this because we've discovered they have been using components from the west in some of their weapons. They don't have the capabilities of building them I guess. It might be painful and more expensive but long term you just have a good work force of skilled and educated workers. Its not like the money spent just vanishes anyway as it will be going back into your own economy.

I think it sucks. Laws of physics suck! Einsteins Laws can go F himself. Cannot go faster than light!? So can the laws of thermaldynamics. Cannot create energy. Then where did it come from? (Rhetorical question). Computers cannot simply be made smaller without electrons becoming weird. Anyway it sucks we are hitting limits. I mean even standard practical Helicopters have basically reached their limits. I hope there are solutions, because living a life with technological limits is lame! Technology should always be improving at a rapid rate. Hopefully AI can fix that.

Like a bunch of small semi erect penises or testicles! Hard to swallow, I know. Just imagine that, brain.
