@adamesd3699 The question is... Maybe the resources on building the AA guns might have been better reserved for building more aircraft. Yet the morale boost for everyone cannot be underestimated. More importantly the morale for those who have to fly through a flak cloud is just as important. Sort of like the A 10... I love the damn thing, but it is over rated. I don't really think it was that effective from a technical point of view. Yet from an emotional stance? That thing demoralized the enemy, while giving allies a huge boost in moral. Since it flew low people could see it, and that mattered. Whether the F 16 could do the same thing yet better does not matter, because F 16s don't have that sort of moral impact since they'll kill the enemy from 16,000 feet or whatever it is.
