Yeah overextending forces has been their downfall. I hope Ukraine wins but eventually help will run out.

Yeah they want that budget increase. With that said we do need to expand our industrial base, CPU, and be more efficient with our technological efforts. Easy to make weapons will be crucial. Look at Russia running low on ammunition. Also keep our enlisted. We should invest in simulators more for our combat troops.

@badgerpa9 Oh no I know. Was just saying the Caspian Sea Monster and the Spruce Goose were the same. Both massive objects that were proven to work but never used for their intended purposes. Just sat around collecting dust. The Spruce is in a museum IIRC. Hope some historians keep this one too.

Maybe a stage to get it going out of the tube and into the air like the Javelin? It's a big freaking rocket and you don't want that thing just going ploop in front of you.

Ground effect homie! They were the first to give it a serious go for sure. Quite honestly never understood why seaplanes never took off - HAR NO PUN INTENDED -. They can be large and can land on both land or sea. Anyway I want to see a massive quad tilt rotor and a massive sea plane. Great for logistics, and heavy duty lifting duties for the C-130 and not for direct attack of course. I am not sure how far off the water you have to be for ground effect to take. Rogue waves would be a danger. Don't want to be going 10 meters off the water when some wave decides to crest.

No, unless guided of course. Think about it - rockets are longer and have thrust during it's flight time which means more variables. I'm not even sure if they spin to be honest for stabilization. So a generalization from what I've read is Artillery is great for sustained fire and more accurate, while easily reloadabld. They can land multiple hits on the same area at the same time by changing the arc and charges. Rocket Artillery is amazing for laying a whole area down in bursts of fire with longer range, but slower reloading times(can be mitigated with a system like the HIMARS. Still I'd rather be hit by neither but having a bunch of 300mm explosives coming in my direction from 100km out seems terrifying. That's just me piggy backing off of articles and I am a layman. Other factors seriously effect accuracy and how it is used. Until recently I didn't even know the US had good artillery. Thought it was sort of behind others like the Archer, specifically rocket Artillery.

@afcgeo882 What are you having trouble understanding? Cheaper weapons that are easy to manufacter and work. We've seen how quickly Russia and Ukraine are burning through weapons. Stop wasting money on huge programs that go no where. Politics needs to stay out. Leave it to the engineers and military personal. Quicker development time between the generations to keep up with technology. Now if you can't understand that I don't know what to tell you. Buy some reading comprehension materials.

Was thinking the same. Some type of AA is nearby and they want the location.
2
@badgerpa9 Not much to do with it. Going the way of the Spruce Goose. Prove a concept and then not use it.
2
@badgerpa9 Always wondered why we don't use large sea planes in general. Its not like you can't design one to also be able to land normally. I've never seen the Spruce but heard the thing is awestunning, and even more impressive when you know its mainly made with wood. I think a plane that uses ground effect (efficient flight) like the Caspian for most of its flight but has the ability to fly over terrain (but inefficient) when necessary would be useful. Pair it with a FCS and host of sensors that automatically flies it at the correct altitude while detecting any rogue waves and you have a very good adapatable strategic transport plane. Obviously they are sitting ducks and vulnerable but its a strategic transport. We have other aircraft for detested bases of operations. Also the USAF new tactic in war is to have shifting airbases and never have their aircraft sitting in the same area for long extended periods. This could help them too with logistics since any large enough body of water can be used.

I would be impressed if they actually faked his death, and he had to get plastic surgery. Kept the deal with no one knowing. Anyone who said it would be deemed crazy. Anyway man I wish I could have met anyone who said he would live. It was never a question if he would be killed, but how and when. I'm suprised they didn't try an other way. I would do organic mercury. One drop on the skin, and you're a goner. Nothing can be done AFIK once it touches you as it really absorbs that fast.

Explosives work better in water from what I understand. Wonder what type they are for sure though. Every time I see footage of a new weapon against ships I'm blown away by the sheer amount of damage can cause. The AF test "Quicksink" was insanely destructive for a relatively small bomb. I guess the plan is to be able to destroy a bunch of smaller ships with it as it is cheap.

@RaptorJesus It is also the winter dude. Everyone is bunkering down for the most part. Yes Russia is burning through ammo but they also tend to save it for big offensives and they are using Winter to build up their forces for the spring offensive. They have their plants creating munitions, North Korea, Iran, and other third parties giving them Chinese shells. Some say Pakistan. Russia has a shit load of shells. Sucks that we don't give Ukraine weapon systems to hit some of the depots and industrial military plants.

NATO dropped the ball. Too little too late. I have been saying this forever. Russia had way too much time to dig in. Honestly I was hoping Ukraine would've attacked through Russia. Did a hook or something. No... They... Ran straight through and got chewed up. They didn't expect helicopters? I don't know outside this will be a war of attrition. Ukraine simply doesn't have the numbers to defeat Russia on the offense like this.

twitchclips5333 British aren't to blame. Fifty years ago sure, but not anymore. That area has always been a cluster f%ck, and at war with someone. If they weren't so focused on killing Jews they'd be killing each other, or creating suicide bombers to attack the West. Now I've admittedly not met a ton of Lebanese. Yet some of the older ones hated Palenstianians for being a huge part in what the country has become. The younger one just didn't speak of Lebanon at all, except told me it's best not to visit. The country lost control to the war mongers. Israel seems to be falling to them too, don't get me wrong. Extremist suck. Anyway all the shit countries are shit, because none of em can take responsibility for their situation. Always blaming someone else, because they'd rather make terrotist or weapons than make their lives better. Or the governments are corrupt. This includes Africa who also blame Europeans for everything in modern times. Hearing what Lebanon use to be to what it is now is real sad. It sounded like it had potential till it became ran by terrorists. They need to take a page from Indonesia. They've got extreme Islam too, but for the most part aren't hellbent on killing everyone next to them.

You don't have to get vacinnated. Yet people, buisnesses, and the government don't have to tolerate you either. Covid mutates. This is why we are still dealing with it. I got covid twice, as I worked at a pharmacy before a vaccine, and it put me on my ass, and second time I got it I was terminally ill. Luckily I was vaccinated, but my mom wasn't. I was sick for two days, and she was sick for a month. If you don't do it for yourself. Do it for others. I seen a lot of dead people die when I was in the hospital 24/7. I think a lot of anti vaxxers forget that people have a choice to not let you go around spreading disease in their organization or to make rules for it.
1
@afcgeo882 Well yes but things can change and it seems like the military is shifting somewhat. Either way we need to be more efficient in certain ways and if the next gen fighter program works? Then follow that model. Politics needs to stop too. We don't need to support any private company.

My phone was too dark to really see. I read your post that Smarter Every Day had made a topic on the war, and that it had misinformation in it. I was completely bumfuddled. Destin making something with misinformation, and about a war!? The hell! Only lasted a second before I could fix it, but man that would have been... Depressing. I second Bryan Macbeth as a good source for information. He is obviously pro west in what information he does touch on, but it is solid non the less, which doesn't matter to me yet it should be stated. More importantly he will admit when he is wrong about something or not entirely sure which I respect. That is why I like these two. Plus Alex from Sandboxx news who is possibly the best military journalist, but specializes in mainly air. He said the channel would branch out though earlier this year.

I feel like those tank numbers are exaggerated according to Pre Run who takes in all the factors. He might be wrong due to the cost disparity. That is nuts they somehow had their manufacturers cut prices. Only if the West could do that. Somehow we pay for the entire research, and don't own them. Things like Stingers somehow costs much much more than what they did. Only western weapons fucking get more expensive. It is ridiculous.

Cheap bat like swarm drones are going to be the future. Imagine having 100 drones flying at ya loaded with a pound of explosives zipping through the air. These drones will have AI to fly like bats, navigate to a location, inside buildings or behind cover, and target you before making a kamikaze run. Nothing you'll be able to do when they get sent to your sector. Obviously AI needs to catch up, but I do know research for swarming has been going on for the last 15 years. Then you have their bigger brother that can seek, locate, and fire a few rounds. Before going back to a forward operating base. Anyway cheap 3d printed bat swarm drones will be a thing. I already seen a video of a racing drone used to do a kamikaze attack on some sentry system. It was incredibly fast.

@jessehachey2732 Scifi fof now! AI and human recognition is improving rapidly. Give it twenty years max. If you don't think that is the future you're mad. It will start small. I doubt America will allow it first in our own systems, but once that beast is unleashed America will most likely follow. It is no different then dropping a shit ton of bombs. Ya don't check to see if everyone is a combatant when you blow a building. You accept there might be callateral damage before unleashing the bomb. The first hunter killer drones will be used like that. "No friendlies in this area? Affirmative? Proceed." Of course there will be fail safes to shut them down too. We aren't ever going to hand over the keys to AI. That would be asking for trouble. I am also not afraid of that type of AI gaining sentience either since it isn't created for that - would be like worrying about a colony of ants suddenly gaining free thought and start making pictures. They won't have the processing power to do that. Looks like the AF is pushing hard for self reliant AI in its wingman drones. Just like a pilot requires orders from the higher ups to be able to go hot? So will the first hunter killer drones. Rules of engagement though. Jesus how many soldiers and pilots have died following them.

Always liked them for some reason. Shame though. Seemed like nice cars. Always felt like Mercedes were overrated but I'm just a pleb.

YUP! This was part of his plan! Very soon when Putin is addressing the nation I fully expect Priggy to bust through the doors, shirtless, charging on a beautiful white steed with two AK 47s guns blazing, and a fucking RPG on strapped to his muscular manly back. Before Putins guards can even react he will be among them shouting "GLORY TO MOTHA RUSSIA!"And gun down all the corrupted, and soulless "leaders" that dare stand before his might. Within moments him and his noble elite warriors will have secured the room and then.... Then Prigizhon will put down his weapons, get off his horse, and approach the coward Putin who is trapped. In front of the cameras they shall duel for control with fisticuffs! Then... And only then... After Putin begs for mercy will he rip his lungs out, and use them to create a glorious song that will be remembered for millennium as the start of the new Russian Empire!

Russian tactics are garbage. If they were any good they wouldn't be in the mess. Sheer amount of equipment, from artillery to man power, and most importantly ammo is what gives them the advantage. By a huge one at that. Ukraine was in the top 5 poorest European countries when this war started. Russian tactics are the reason why this war is still going on. They won't have an AWAC system if Ukraine keeps hitting them. Crazy if they hit an other one. Russia only had a handful. Each one down means others are taken out of the maintenece schedule. They'll be falling out of the sky before we know it on their own.

American, and western doctrine relies on air power for one. They don't have the man power nor equipment to risk divisions to fight like we can. I don't think people really grasp how big Russias military is, and they aren't even at total war status. America would never send troops at those minefields for one. They'd be going around whatever country if they had to. They'd be attacking Russia on their own turf, taking out their factories, power, and bridges. They would be threatening Marine landings for sure whether it is from the North Sea, Baltic, or freaken Siberia. I sort of wish Ukraine did attempt a division north hook. Going into Russia from.the North around the main defensive lines, and then back down to secure a place.

Why do you fools always bring up NATO? I'm so sick of this petty excuse. Putin wanted to bring back the glory of Russia as a powerful nation who could stand against the West and supplant it. He did it for his legacy . NATO was fine being at peace. It was declining in power. No one in their right mind would invade Russia who has nuclear weapons. No one wanted any part of Russia. You know why Ukraine wanted to join NATO? Because it was afraid Russia would invade anyway. And guess what they did even when they had a Ukranian puppet? Invade in 2014. That gave them their warm water port. Yet they weren't happy. Ukraine wasn't. Yet NATO still ignored it and wanted PEACE. They wanted cheap Russian resources and were fine with the situation. So Ukraine said they wanted to join. Because everyone close to Russia knew the Russian government would want more and more! And viola... We have war. There wasn't a single sign that NATO would invade Russia anywhere. We can't govern the world based on delusions. There was simply no justification for Russia to invade, and that is why 90% of the world's countries disagree

@ctcanine I wouldn't call it a retreat. More like consolidation. If the position was being overwhelmed and they were being slaughtered like up north I'd say retreat. Blah semantics. Either way it's smart, and I hope Ukraine doesn't get carried away and lose a lot of men and materials.
1
@ctcanine Ah Aw poor baby has their tighties in a bunch. Look I can report you too!

@AverageYoutubeGhost No. 2010. Think we are regressing. Things are certainly heating up. How far before we break. Will the enviroment push us, lack of resources, or an assassination. Trump, Xi, Putin, Elon, Gates, The Arab princes. Earth isn't big enough for those pricks.
