Cheap bat like swarm drones are going to be the future. Imagine having 100 drones flying at ya loaded with a pound of explosives zipping through the air. These drones will have AI to fly like bats, navigate to a location, inside buildings or behind cover, and target you before making a kamikaze run. Nothing you'll be able to do when they get sent to your sector. Obviously AI needs to catch up, but I do know research for swarming has been going on for the last 15 years. Then you have their bigger brother that can seek, locate, and fire a few rounds. Before going back to a forward operating base. Anyway cheap 3d printed bat swarm drones will be a thing. I already seen a video of a racing drone used to do a kamikaze attack on some sentry system. It was incredibly fast.

@jessehachey2732 Scifi fof now! AI and human recognition is improving rapidly. Give it twenty years max. If you don't think that is the future you're mad. It will start small. I doubt America will allow it first in our own systems, but once that beast is unleashed America will most likely follow. It is no different then dropping a shit ton of bombs. Ya don't check to see if everyone is a combatant when you blow a building. You accept there might be callateral damage before unleashing the bomb. The first hunter killer drones will be used like that. "No friendlies in this area? Affirmative? Proceed." Of course there will be fail safes to shut them down too. We aren't ever going to hand over the keys to AI. That would be asking for trouble. I am also not afraid of that type of AI gaining sentience either since it isn't created for that - would be like worrying about a colony of ants suddenly gaining free thought and start making pictures. They won't have the processing power to do that. Looks like the AF is pushing hard for self reliant AI in its wingman drones. Just like a pilot requires orders from the higher ups to be able to go hot? So will the first hunter killer drones. Rules of engagement though. Jesus how many soldiers and pilots have died following them.

They were using flying swarms for rescue effforts after an earthquake. Then you have their bigger brother that can seek, locate, and fire a few rounds. Before going back to a forward operating base.
