Yeah. I have no problems with military training in certain areas. Real world training is invaluable. Yet Trump essentially saying. "Thanks Obama" for this is hilariously sad . Flight control tower people are notoriously over worked, and underpaid. An insanely stressful, and underappreciated job by the general public. I'd have respect for Trump if he was like. Yeah we will pay people more, and give bigger budgets to hire more. Yet of course he isn't. Already came up with conspiracy theories himself.

What we need to do is standardized all plastics world wide. (Also use colors that don't effect them). Specialized plastics then can be taxed. Medical plastics are good. Yet we should try to make them conform. I've seen tons of companies say they have the solution. So I apologize if I don't believe them till I see it. !remind me 25 years. (Just playing. Wish YouTube had that feature. )

@yourlogicalnightmare1014 You act like the US governemt controls the world and makes all technology. So you should say PEOPLE won't allow it. Whether it is the CCP, US government or some global cooperation. Anyway nothing is free or should be free. Still need to make and maintain things so people who do that should be paid.

I am pretty sure Tesla is the only company making profit off of EVs. I think overall every other company including BYD is losing money So how can you say just legacy automakers? Go see how much Lucid bleeds per car. The CEO should have his hands broken for the salary he pays himself. Wish I got paid so much for failing hard. I'm all for EVs. Prefer the acceleration and quietness. Yet to sit there and say, "Yup everything is good!" means you are missing the bigger picture. America needs to subsidize some more battery tech. We may fall behind in maufacturing it, but we should be focusing on the next gen battery. Lithium Air!

Most of the time it is about cost I've noticed. Or they are in the process of scaling up. Yet it is good to be skeptical. There are some technologies that he is basically free advertisement for some con artists. Him and Undecided with Matt Farrel or whatever really do fall hard for those deceiving assets. I won't hold my breath. I do hope I'm wrong though about my skepticism. This is NASA afterall.

Yeah, he didn't really hit on a lot. Like comparing land prices which I assume can be ridiculous due to the sheer lack of land plus density. Then again Japan isn't exactly having a population explosion either is it! So I feel like demographics has a play on this as well. Seems like construction prices are reasonable too which is crazy as Japanese joints or carpentry really are world renowned. I mean I even know of some! Personally if I built a home. It would be made of a concrete shell with wood inside. It needs to be a fortress against imaginary zombie attacks, and people aa well as earth quakes. Also not susceptible to tsnuamis.

What other architecture they going to take from in their history? Stone Pyramid Temples? Too little space and expensive. Wooden mud huts? Maybe go with some mud brick huts instead? Scupltures of humans having their hearts ripped out being offered up to the gods? Not exactly much to choose from. Ha JP. I definitely would like to see some ancient statues made like their ancestors.

For 10 kw per gram? (It looked like they listed under 4 liters in a graph. So volumetric is great unlike Hydrogen) That is on par with the best therotical batteries max potential! Lithium Air is said to be able to hold 12,300 watts per KG. So yeah. That is outstanding! I've already said TPV cells are the future. Or a part of it. For some applications. MIT just made some that capture heat at 2,000 celius, get better with more heat, and have more than 45% effiency. Basically the same as our best turbines! I say the future as in... The future is TPV cells plus nuclear or in ten years fusion! Sadly... I am super skeptical. Feel like the DoD would be on top of this. Just use sapphire... Oh yeah that is a great choice. So plentiful. Pretty cool if true, and I bet a ton of applications could benefit from this. TPV cells need more research. We waste so much heat, and potential energy. Having a part that captures that into electricity with no moving parts is a game changer for at least industrial purposes.

This engine is a joke. Look up Real Engineering video on it... Liquid Hydrogen ICE engines isn't going to happen. It is such a stupid idea it isn't even funny.

TPV cells are legit and are the future. We need more. He says 10 kwh/kg, and the graph showed less than 4 liters. My question is that with the total system of just the fuel? Probably just the fuel, huh. That would be like the hydrogen crowd saying, "hydrogen has 23kw/kg with a fuel cell!" Yeah, then include the reinforced tanks, and everything, and you get a car that weighs more than the pure EV it is in competition for. (Model 3 versus Mirai. Model 3 weighs less somehow.) Anyway MIT just produced TPVs with the efficiency of our best turbines with no moving parts. It does take 2,000 celius though, but that is still awesome. Anyway like someone else said. The theroy is sound. I just don't think they can make it happen. DoD would be ontop of this for certain applications I think. TPV + Nuclear, and one decade from now - Fusion cells - please! I need a battery the size of a soda can for an exoskeleton. You need one too.

I am confused as it is running out of water, and they limited how many ships go through it. So it obviously can run out of water. If it is only 75k then that makes little sense? Maybe they figure they can squeeze more overall if they fake water shortages. Makes little sense. I wonder if there is a way to make some electricity from the moving water or ships from somewhere on the locks.

At first I thought it would be like a capacitor with density. It isn't. Could've been good for buses. Charging at stops as it goes. Yet charging fast kills the battery. Salients battery makes no sense. It is only 30% cheaper at 1/4th the density. So wouldn't just buying less lithium ion be cheaper? Makes no sense why people would go for the salient...

Who told you it would take 20k years to mine enough materials? That number is outrageous to me considering how much of these ingredients we mine.

Sure. Yet we have more solutions than ever. From the myriad of batteries that don't need to be super advandced high power, low density ones found in cars or electrinics. One issue is our grid. We can produce and store all the power we want, but getting that power when and where it is needed is a huge problem no one seems to be focused on. Where is the revolutionary technology that will change getting power from A to B! Our grid is so outdated and vulnerable it is a real concern.. We need a massive overhaul from just a civic, economic, and more importantly a security standpoint. The future is wind and solar, EV or hydrogen. All of it will need a strong and efficent grid, and I don't see any videos on how we plan to upgrade it.

@tarstarkusz I didn't say medical plastics should be recycled. They should be exempt for sure. No sorry I think it is a good idea to standardize all plastics. We don't need 100 million variations slightly different that cannot be easily recycled as one for every single damn consumer item. Even the ink should be at the very least non toxic, and biodegradable. Those that have to be can be taxed, or recycable. That would actually motivate people or companies to develope better ways. Even a deposit like some states do would work. I'm not talking a lot, but just enough, and it would be those producing said items. Even deposites would work. Had bums clearing out trash daily to recycle items. Worked wonders.

EV will probably be cheaper for a lot simply because it isn't flying. Feel like the payload is too small personally. If they can increase that then yeah. Not really sure what the heck he meant about special operators using drones versus helicopters to inflatrate quietly... Still going to suffer the same issues unless you use a different propeller design. Drones high pitched whining is also super loud and distinctive. A quad or tri toredo design maybe? Just don't see where he was going with a bunch of drones. Seals and such already have a way to drop into enemy territory virtually undetected. It's called HALO or just regular parashooting. You'd be surprised just how far they can glide before having to use the shoot and no motorized vehicle will be as quiet as a parachute.

He is just throwing out some idea his team made up... Quite honestly with some of the mistakes I've seen from this channel... I think he thinks his team is smarter than what they are. Anyway you're forgetting speed of the heat transfer. Maybe this could be paired with passive radiative cooling which has seen some advances.

Yeah the volume is the issue that will never he solved. Sure 33k Kilawatts per 1KG sounds amazing until you realize that is 24 Liters give or take under SEVEN HUNDRED BAR. So now we have a tank that isn't only flammable, but a bomb as well. So 24 liters will get you 100 miles give or take or something around that. Great. I don't know about you, but I actually like my vehicle to have space outside of fuel. Maybe if we could triple that? Sure. Now we are talking. Liquid hydrogen is a joke. Yeah let me just cool that tempature down to around -240c. Easy Peazy! What is crazy is that a liter of water holds more hydrogen atoms then pure liquid hydrogen? I don't understand that. Just read that. Now if we could figure out a storage medium that can hold more hydrogen then liquid hydrogen, and separate it? That would be awesome!

Sure we could compress air. Or build gravity batteries. Or flywheels. Pumped hydro. Water batteries. The question is which is cheapest. I think there are certain battery technologies that are becoming available now that are cheaper than other technologies. Wait till metal air batteries become available! Jeff Bezos is putting money into Iron Air for energy storage. Once they start becoming large scale we won't even be asking ourselves what to use. Lithium Air for cars. Iron Air for energy storage. Then things like FPV cells, and molten salt to recycle heat waste into energy.

People think the grid cannot keep up, and talk about lack of infrastructure. I think they forget it is driven by private demand, and electricity demand was either a small increase per year or dropping. We never needed a large production, because every year our stuff became more efficent. Look at electricity demand from 2008 to now. For many years it kept dropping. Therfore our private power companies had no reason to invest or build. Afterall they are for profit, and over building is a waste. Basically what I am saying is there was no demand. Now that there will be more demand the power companies will see this opportunity to get richer, and kick into build mode. Praise be capitalism. The big AI companies are already making their own power from what I understand. Google is going for even geothermal. The nice thing about the Sun is that it not just produces solar or wind. It over produces it. We have more than enough sun to run AI.

I remember an other solar company lab pulling numbers like this. It went like. Since the sun can produce 1,350 watts per square meter, but usually averaging 1,000 watts. With average solar panels getting 200 watts. Having a double increase will means it will get a gazillion more power over the course of a year. It all adds up to even more power than double! And none of it made a lick of god damn sense! It is still only double the power. I say only - I mean 40‰ is amazing especially if they are cheaper. Yet that is besides the point. Those people were liaaaars!

It would be good for one sector in aerospace. Weapons! No need for a rechargeable batter for your missile. You want small size, specific power, tough/reliable, and longevity. For cars and even planes? How about we focus on Lithium Air. Lithium Air IS rechargeable, and can hold more therotically. In fact no other known battery chemistry can hold more power. Something like 12,2500 kwh/kg with air excluded (like how a jet draws oxygen from the air). Half that if you include oxygen. That is the maximum therotical limit though which is impossible to get. So half that efficiency which should be possible would grant us 2.5k and 5k kwh/kg which would change EVERYTHING. Sure batteries will never hit the power per kg of fossil fuels. Yet they definitely exceed it in cost of power, and we could just have more flights with planes that carry less, and more frequently. It maybe better as more planes would be flying giving us, the consumer, more flights to choose from and for cheaper. Since electric motors are also superior in terms of maintenence... (flights will be slower. I don't see electric jets reaching 90% of the speed of sound anytime soon.)

Benefits to pervoskites has always been in cost of manufacturing. Well it was! The extra efficiency is just icing on the cake. I remember hearing when I first learnt about them eventually we should be able to print it for dirt cheap. If they can get rid of the degradation problem. Yet maybe since basic pervoskites cannot be used, and it requires some alloy or combination of materials. Maybe the companies are shifting to sell them as a more efficient panel, but keeping the cost.

Eh its 22 and like you said it works. His videos allow me to see a technology and see if its worth investigating it on my own. Some technologies I wouldn't come up on my radar for instance. There are a few channels that are ckickbait and they spend half the time talking about how batteries work before having one minute on the subject. He does it a bit too. Wish he just cut straight to the facts instead of going on about why ICE are bad. We know this already.

Yeah, but there are other forms of battery storage... If they are too inefficient. They won't be profitable, because someone would have to buy more. Making it expensive. Therfor making it useless.

Eh those things need quick turn around time. Time is money so unless fossil fuel shoots up it won't happen anytime soon. Someone said use it for cargo ships and I laughed just imagining a cargoship sitting there charging for a week when they literally rarely stop.

@cjmuniz12 Say we take this guy at face value, and he does what he says. Builds an amazing city, but doesn't live in it, but many families do while enjoying it. How the hell does that take anything away from what they accomplished? They did good for the people that will live there, even if they don't. We need more walkable cities like this. More ideas for futuristic cities. People are killing themselves just to own a nice home. People like you are the worse. Type of person to crap on a fireman who just saved five people, because they didn't run back in to save the dog. This development looks way better than the standard suburban one we see scattered across America where a car is a must have.

Yeah it boggles my mind that they PHYSICALLY store energy and we somehow can control the discharge. Always thought they were only good for quick dumps. Like opening the bottom of a container instantly. Thought cache was just a type of RAM but for a specific part? It isn't? TIL!

Nothing wrong with GMOs. They save lives. Grow more using less. Thet have vitamins lacking in some crops. They use less water and even less pesticides(well in theroy). Drought and weather resistant. Anyone who think some inbred, crossbred, hybrid crop using all the various methods to create it "naturally" is insane. Nothing natural about any modern crop to begin with. I mean they use all sorts of techniques that do not happen in nature. GMOs are good.

I always wondered if it was possible to create an Hot Air Rigid Airship that stays aloft using solar. Basically you would have solar covering it storing electricity that would be used to heat up air inside the ship causing it to float. Also using the same electricity to power the fans for maneuvering. This would allow you to basically float indefinitely without the need for refilling except for supplies. Of course you could have a small hydrogen back up generator as well just in case. Yet this would beat hydrogen or helium airships that tend to leak, and need to be refilled. Helium is limited, and expensive. While I don't think Hydrogen is as vad as people say? There is always that risk. If I were filthy rich I would build that instead. Have a nice little flying condo that is always moving so I can stare down at ya filthy peasants with a telescope, and gods eye view. When I mentioned it to someone else. They told me to boil water as steam does have a lot of lifting capacity.

30 years from now. So many breakthroughs. I need to see it cheap and easy to scale. Even if it's true but doesn't reach that criteria? It can be used for niche applications at least.

The skill. Absolutely. Important jobs require good smart people, and you need to pay em. People always crying about low quality work, hut don't want to pay for better performance. You sound jealous quite frankly. I'm sure someone would be willing to hire you half the price. And yeah, no ATC controller should get paid 130k.

Yeah unless some super duper nano tech allows us to store it in a condensed medium. (As just in case people didn't know. Water holds more hydrogen per liter than liquid hydrogen which I find insane. ) So unless we get some miracle medium to store hydrogen comparable to the density of water? Then it is a no go. Hydrogen cars weigh more than EVs with way less space to get slightly better range. Think 50 to 100 miles more. Whoopty doo. Hydrogen is a pain to store. It is dangerous if not kept properly. It destroys the equipment. It requires cryogenic tempatures or absurd pressures. It loves to leak according to those who work with it. I simply don't see how people look at hydrogen, and think "ah yes. I would love my car to be part blimp. This totally will work". Let us not forget that we'd have to build an entirely new infrastructure. With new battery technology constantly improving year in, and out. Hydrogen makes no sense, and that ship has sailed. If we did this years ago it would be good. Not with battery tech being as it is in the near future. It will only ever be used for niche industries. Don't fund hydrogen. You'll be disappointed.

@HH-le1vi Wind is the cheapest form of energy for any new form of power production. Specifically at large scales. Isn't that shocking? Batteries are also getting cheaper. Solar has the benefit of being better for home scale local production. There in lays the problem with nuclear. I'm all for it, but it doesn't seem to ever be cost competitive. Once, (once hah) some of these new battery technologies that aren't lithium ion, but even way cheaper? I just don't see why except for some specific places would ever do it. This is without mentioning the sheer amount of fresh water plants need. This could be mitigated by newer reactor designs, but again the cost. According to a graph about Nuclear. The price curve is going up. While wind, solar, and batteries continue to dip. I think the best bet for nuclear is for converting old fossil fuel plants into nuclear. I think that is the only way it stands a chance at the moment, and I am all for it.

If I recall the issue is... You'd need either a massive tank, or an incredibly tall tower for it to generate enough to make it worth while. Doesn't work on a small scale. On a big scale? I don't think the cost is worth it relative to other technologies. Not to say it isn't being used. Just there is a reason it isn't sought after. Pumped hydro on the other hand is the most widely used form of storing electricity already. People are trying so many various methods on it. The dumbest thing though is the Energy Vault. They use concrete blocks, and stack them. It makes literally no sense to do that over storing water in a tower. It is a scam for the amount of energy it stores for the cost.

@klepow Aye I just don't see the benefit ya know? Might as well just design a full quad helicopter instead of having multiple drones carrying someone which is what it sounded like he was getting at haha. Unless these things are suppose to be like a personal flying "quad pack" of something like. I need to see a video. I'm missing something.

@klepow Yeah this seems like it is designed for crap ya want ASAP like food delivery. Or some other high expense item someone needs quickly. Not large enough for a grocery order. It will be quick but if you don't mind waiting you can just get your item within a day or two by other delivery methods. I'm sure some buisnesses would benefit. I just don't know what. Quite honestly the medium resteruant chains like Applebees or Red Lobster could benefit from this. In theroy their markup is a lot better per item sold compared to a fast food chain. Yet I'd argue they'd be better off buying a drone from a company themselves instead of a third party service. The one benefit of a drone is that it doesn't get paid hourly! Wait maybe I am biased. Maybe this will work well for people who live a while from stores and such.

TPVs are the future. Mark my words. So many applications that generate tons of heat. The question is... What are you going to use to produce that heat? I know MIT recently had a break through with TPVs with 45% (ish) effiency. Basically just as good as a turbine with no moving parts. I truly believe the future of energy is nuclear and maybe eventually fusion with TPV cells. Nuclear fuel cell the size of a can of soda powering my exoskeleton? Yes PLEASE!

@sacredbaloney Agreed that number seems off. It would be 105% of 90%. IIRC these propppelers and a standard propeller need to be designed specifically for a certain speed and torque to get the most efficiency. These are better generally but show more promise for certain speeds and applications. That is what I was told. Also just copying the same design doesn't quite work as well as people think from the small tests I've seen people do on YT. The biggest benefit is durability. Cavitation really does a number on props. Wonder if the Navy has already designed one for their submarines and are having issues manufacturing it.

The comments are pathetic. People are hypocrites. Always crying about how we dont have walkable cities or why don't the rich do this or that. Then when people try? You crap on them. All because they were secretive when buying land which is real estate 101 so people to price gouge you for some dinky farm. A farm that should be somewhere else that actually has water to spare! A walkable sustainable small city sounds awesome to me. Especially if a ton of families with kids move in.

That laser system in action was on an other level! One of the most impressive things I've seen in a long time honestly. My question is how effective it is at actually destroying some weeds. Like did it actually completely kill them down to the root? Also costs for the chemical laser. I'd like to see a rechargable laser. CRISPR is improving some crops now. Sadly people are going to be against it - hypocrites.
