Yes it was a composite armor. I didn't realize how important this guy was in it. I remember reading about it nearly 20 years ago now. Can't beleive they shot someone with an arrow. I seen some tests before which didn't work. Not made correctly then! Anyway even a gamberson and some other clothe armors that aren't as complex were really damn good at protecting. How armies didn't just perish from heat exhaustion during hours of battle in the summer sun is beyond me.

Mathmatics is a made up tool to help us grasp, and predict. It is not actually a thing the universe cares for. We ars just beyond cavemen. I think one day we will be intuivitely be able to grasp large numbers, and complex maths. Much like some savants just intuitively grasp some things. Of course this is after the AI revolution, and genetic modification evolution. Since ya know we are seemingly getting dumber.

@unclebully1871 Marching lengths depended on general, and era. Some of the greatest generals would make their men move! Meaning long forced marches. A good military could march 20 miles in march. 10ish on average depending on military. Also terrain of course mattered. I remember reading at some points Alexander had his men march 30 to 35 miles in a day! Carrying their own supplies. This would shock the opposing enemy of course if done right. Other times your army would show up exhausted to a battle. The thing people always over look is heat stroke. I don't know about you guys, but fighting in the mediterranen heat sounds like hell. Wearing metal armor in the heat no less while it bakes you like an oven too hot to touch. Then having to go, and fight for hours with your adrenaline pumping. How many men died simply from heat exhaustion? I think I would have preferred to fight in the fall to early winter. Yet I guess back then they had to do their yearly harvest. While the spring to summer allows some foraging.
