How many people and businesses have gone out of their way to create things to profit off it, and help the world? If patents did not exist many wouldn't be have incentives to go out there to spend their time, money, and effort to create something better or new. The money generated then gives them wealth to put their minds into repeating the process. Sure there are issues with patents. Like those who sit on them, don't license, and especially those who file a million lawsuits to settle. Those later ones should be arrested and barred from convicting anyone from patent infringement for sure. Yet with all this said the benefits outweigh the risk.
