Any missile technology is good right now. That missile truck the USAF wants to build will seem viable. Having one plane dropping 60 plus cruise missiles with increased range make it more viable. Of course it will be paired with other aircraft to locate targets. Forgot the name of the units but the Wild Weasels was one.

@generalrendar7290 Also ships are moving in 3 demensions and carriers move extremely fast so any hiccup in that kill chain even for a fraction of a second may lead the missile to completely miss. That's because I believe the hypersonic missiles now are boost phase only and glide on the way down. The US hypersonic missiles in development are more like cruise missiles from what I've read. Still hard to shoot down I guess but I'm not exactly sure why that is? Then again I am nobody and I don't understand why many of our anti air guns and missiles are kinetic kill instead of some type of directional proximity fuse explosive. Surely a cloud of flak would be easier to hit everything from small drones to hypersonic missiles. Hell why not create a bird shot style gun firing 3,000 rounds that have thousands of tungsten pellets or something. (Obviously for last moment defense.) I know Sky Shield uses AHEAD ammo but the US uses HE or armor piercing. PS correct me if I am wrong about the hypersonic missiles.

@hansybarra Feel like ma¹terial science is definitely holding other fields in a lot of areas from batteries, rail guns to defense! I hear about new material break throughs that never leave the labs. Come on where's my ultiantium armor that can absorb a 50 cql and cushion my butt. Why can't I roll up my phone, or fix my damaged car with a heat gun! Come on!
