What I find ironic is that our issue with scram jets outside of materials is keeping them lit. You'd think humans by now would know how to start a fire, and keep it lit seeing how intrinsic fire is to us. Making fires predates home sapient, and we still haven't mastered it. We are natures pyromanics! You'd think keeping it lit would be easy peazy. Anyway I know it is a lot more complicated. Rotating Detonation Engines will be an amazing leap. I'm excited for them. What is weird is we've had scram jets. We've had hypersonic. Yet we haven't made a production plane since the SR 71. (I do believe we've had a successor that is secret.) Solid video as always.

@perryallan3524 The J58 is not more advanced than the f119. First off the f22s has 40% more thrust at 35% reduced weight. That is amazing. It is way more efficenf at the lower flight envelopes. Secondly the engine has both thermal, and EM stealth. Is thrust vectoring. More durable, reliable, and can handle anything the F22 pilot throws it the entire flight envelope. It doesn't leak. Focusing on stealth is the reason why we do not have hybrid engines in a fighter. Up until recently stealth materials could not handle the higher heats, and pressures at those speeds. Also then the Cold War ended.. we didn't really need super expensive, advanced, spy planes to spy on some goat herders hiding in caves. So would I say the j58 was a greater miracle of design for its time? Yes. They were geniuses with what tools they had. Yet the f119 is much more advanced overall. I wonder why we never had pulse engine planes really.
