  1. Oh yes because Russia and China aren't known for exaggerating their capabilities. Not like they don't want to sell their own arms or anything. I agree we are behind but the US can make them but chooses not to for two simple reasons. 100 cruise misses are much better than a single hypersonic missile. We have ICBMs that are just as good since we don't plan on using tactical nukes if we ever do use nuclear arms... Neither Russia or China have the capability to shoot down a nuclear strike. Two if we make it? Better be worth it. I don't really see the benefits of them.(edit for today.) China and Russia don't have super carriers which are absolutely the most logical target for them. They certainly aren't helping Russia are they. All that expense for what? Hitting a target faster? I think more cruise missiles with longer range is still the most logical way to go and if we do design one it better have a clear purpose and military advantage to make up the cost or else we are basically wasting money for the benefit of the tax payers ego. Once the first gen lasers and second gen come? Yeah Hypersonic makes a lot of sense due to less time for a laser to track and defeat a target... Since apparently flak doesn't work against hypersonic missiles for whatever reason.
