@jameschalkwig787 First you are talking in 20/20 hindsight. That structure obliterated that plane. Pilots surely regretted the choice if they had a chance too.. Water has waves, moves, and catches thing. Ruins your day when it does. Water landings are also more dangerous overall, statistically. There is a reason why the event in the Hudson is called a miracle, and the captain had a movie. I think you only need to go 25mph for it to be similar to concrete by the way. Anyway just saying water landings are not as simple as you think. If it was. I think sea planes would be more popular too, especially as planes become too big for runways. I didn't see if they tried dumping fuel. Usually you try to do that before any crash. Sure as hell doesn't look like they did with that fireball. RIP. I am hoping this was simply an error in the infrastructure. We shall see. I will wait for the entire investigation.
