I bet they are working on hypersonic bombers to fill the gap the B1b will leave. Having a speedy heavy penetration bomber that can take advantage of a short window of opportunity is always handy. Even if it is just a missile truck with standoff missiles. They can launch, get in range to unleash their payload and use their speed to GTFO. I feel like bombers like the Raider will probably be standing off somewhere outside of using it's stealth to keep it hidden but close enough. Hopefully we get those REDs and learn to make hybrid vehicles. Super efficient REDs will change a lot of aircraft and missiles and SCRAM is of course good up to mach 20 or some shit.

@freakmil1537 B2 had other issues. This one is much easier to maintain due to the fact it's built ground up with all the advances in engineering, material, and software.

Sandboxx has a good video on it and I find them to be very knowledgeable. They don't spew shit for clicks.

@Swedester Engineers don't just sit around doing nothing between contracts. I'm sure they are tossing ideas and ways to make a better aircraft as it is their passion and job. Can't just sit on your laurels!

@Seion173 I was thinking that too while writing it and it is a valid point for sure which I have no answers too. What I can say is a hypersonic penetrating large bomber can add survivability and flexibility. Hypersonic missiles that have range and decent payloads are huge! The launchers will be high priority targets and may not be able to relocate to safety once found as easily as a supersonic stealth bomber can. The bomber can use cheaper and smaller payloads and hit different targets in X given amount of time. I'm not sure how long it takes to reload a launcher once it is fired it's munitions TBH. I feel having the hypersonic bomber opens up a lot more options in the long run IF it can be done. I'm personally not a fan of weapons too expensive to risk or use. I doubt we will be chucking hypersonic missiles at tanks any time soon. So having a bomber that can get on scene quickly and retreat safely would be awesome. You call it overkill but I call it redundancy! There is no kill like over kill! Ha JP I'm just a layman who wants to see what such a low altitude, hypersonic capable, penetration heavy bomber would look like!
