  1. I am a liberal mutt. Part native American, and also don't agree. Honestly people who destroy history are ignorant, naive, and just wrong. I can't really grasp the words at the moment yet it is nearly hypocritical. We are all descendants of conquerors. We all have blood from our ancestors hands whether you like it or not. There is not one culture left alive today that didn't expand through conquest, rape, burning, pillaging, and of course murdering. We should look at them not with pride. Yet look at them and realize how far we have progressed. Destroying history is a bad idea as we often repeat it when we forget it. Statues last a lot longer than human memory does that is for certain. I doubt few people look at a statue of Lee and say, "Ah yes. This statue was built for him due to owning slaves." The statue was built as he was a damn good general and held off the more powerful Union time after time. Even though he was an enemy of "my side" I can still respect that aspect of him while denouncing slavery as a whole. As for slavery? Few cultures didn't have it. Why don't we ever bring up the fact black people were also making fortunes off slavery as well. Many African tribes would go to war, and sell captured enemies to Europeans. The biggest hurdle to the black community in America are themselves today. Everyone knows it yet it isn't politically correct to say that. Native Americans? My people were warriors - they weren't some peace loving hippies living one with nature. They were murdering each other, and scalping bitches way before any white men came. We fought and we lost mainly due to disease, and the fact we weren't united. It happened over a century ago - need to stop blaming Europeans for our current situation too. White people are also guilty for guilt tripping. Your ancestors did what most civilizations do - grow up. We need to start thinking of the future without forgetting the past. What matters is how we act today and tomorrow. If a statue triggers you then go see a therapist since you are obviously emotionally damaged. Are you so much of a snowflake you cannot handle the truth?
