We just won't be able to brute force it at worse. Still a myriad of technologies to somehow make it faster. Through better architectures of the chip is one of them. Maybe we will figure out how to program quantum to computer to more standard things. As of now they are only better for specific tasks.

@GenerationAI2024 I cannot beleive for the life of me that you think a house is harder to build than a data center. A modern data center is a machine onto itsself. It is not just shelter or a box filled with Playstations hooked together. It has multiple times the plumbing, and electrical work than a house does. Many treat their own water, and have their own power or back up power generators. Let us not mention complex HVAC designs, recycling for energy efficency, security, and entire fire suppression. Do you have plumbing for fire suppression in your house? No? Thought so. Pleb. Oh, and you still need the amenities for the people who actually work inside the building. Datacenters have toliets too, beleive it or not. Nothing I listed even touches the actual hardware inside the datacenter. I am only talking about the building that has all the infrastructure that the rows of server racks requires. Unless you got some Batman mansion. A house is like a shed compared to modern datacenters. I feel like you're confusing bitcoin miner who set up in a warehouse with a modern data center.

"It is year 5555. We have finally landed on the planet C1225. Our fusion reactors TPV cells need replacing so we set up the back up generator using our water/steam through the tesla turbine." Jokes aside we will be using steam forever. I don't think anything can expand as greatly. Please correct me. (Also the benefits of having it just be water) On an other note. Thermophotovoltaic cells or TPV cells look like the future for nuclear. Why no one is pursuing it hard is beyond me. Thought MIT just released how to make some with greater effiency than most turbines. Yet it only works past 2k Celsius. Surely nuclear energy can reach those temps. So I dont get why not put effort into it. When we crack fusion. Are we REALLY going to just heat water with it?

Matt and Two Bit DaVinci need to be more thorough, and not suck up everything these "upstarts" feed them.. I feel like they give scammer tech companies ammunition to sucker in wannabe investors. I'm not saying don't post videos on them. Just more skepticism would be nice, and pointing out the majior flaws.

We actually do. Did you know in America since 2007 with the exception of two years(three?) power demand has gone down. With all the new gadgets, tech, and things like EVs you'd think demand would go up. Yet it hasn't. It has declined most years. Simply because everything is becoming more efficent, and smarter. It doesn't seem like it, but it is true. We are improving on that forefront. An other fun fact is we waste around 2/3rds of our energy produced simply due to thermal waste, and other inefficencies. Coal and gas plants are in particular inefficient. People are trying to improve the grid too everywhere. Anyway just pointing out it doesn't seem like it, but we have been getting extremely good. I have no idea how much more efficient things can get honestly as there will be a limit.

Agreed. We all pay taxes for things we don't use but are good. Screw the power companies. Government should just take over then and regulations should be put into place. Most power for any given are is a monopoly on top of it all.

@AllanSustainabilityFan Don't you love how so many ignorant people are against renewable energy due to them not being 100% green? "Ah but batteries use chemicals. Turbine blades aren't recyclable!" Even though the gas industry produces an insane amount of waste, and none of it is recyacble. Heck turbines don't even make make up a fraction of a percentage of landfill waste, and each one last 20-25 years. It is wild how people nit pick, and don't compare. Remewables will finally allow the West to unshackle from the middle east, and other unsavory actors. Not to mention a decentralized grid seems pretty awesome.

Just saw that Pervsokite/silicone cells are being sold at around 24% for the total cell. 28% without the frame. That is in production. Some UK company. Channel "Just have a think" posted within the last two days. Then there are even better ones going through the paces with labs saying they defeated the longevity/sensitivty problem. I mean I seen some pervoskites can be basically printed. Others using established technology from micro chip manufacturing to work. If we can stop them from being so damn volatile or degrade so fast we would be set. Matt and TwoBitDavinci man... Always pedaling some untrustworthy start ups claims.

Yeah hydrogens ship has sailed. Batteries for EVs are good enough with adjustment for most drivers since most don't drive more than 40 miles. Charging stations is a problem. With electricity. Which is already there. Hydrogens infrastructure is null. To me hydrogen sucks simply due to volumetric density. It is crap. It is dangerous to store. It likes to corrode and leak. It needs less in the air to blow up too I recently learned while learning about rockets lol. (Unless I am wrong on that part. Something about air fuel ratio). It is expensive. Hydrogen is great for space. Under water submarines. An option for industries or niche uses. I heard fossil fuel companies are funding the reseach for hydrogen, and trying to extend the need for them by switching everyone to hydrogen.

I can see why Matt wants a yard. Honestly he doesn't live in a drought stricten place. I personally don't understand the big deal of a perfect yard people strive for. Definitely don't understand where places force you to grow grass to a perfect height with HoAs. There is a person with a corner of their yard with native plants growing four feet high. It definitely looks like arse. My mom and I were talking about it today so it is hilarious this all came up. Like one hand it is native and good. On the other it looks like their attempting to spread Lyme disease. I'd prefer something that both is natural and looks good. This is coming from someone with six inch weeds sticking out of their yard right now! I'm terminally ill. I can't be cutting grass every other day.

Real estate is always an issue. If it is better to just have something else like one of the other rooftop designs or solar then there is no point. I'll believe it when I see it. Matt and TwoBit basically regurgitate what these companies say. Wish Matt and TwoBit would talk with other experts, because they've talked about technologies that just wouldn't work no matter the hocus pocus the company said. (Hydrogen Nano Tape!) The lack of assessment from outsiders also not being there for that first test project concerns me. You'd think they'd bring in someone to say, "hey this does work".

While I wish he would be more careful showcasing ideas that just don't work after any scrutiny. He takes every company for their word. Like others say. This channel is almost mostly about new bleeding tech that may make it into mainstream? Weird it took you that long to figure that out. It is in the channels name. Ya know, why else does he have "Undecided" in his name?

I hope I'm wrong yet volumetric issue may never be fixed. Don't understand why aviation would use it. You'd have such little space. Then it isn't like hydrogen tanks are light. Until we figure out a way to break hydrogen from water or an other matrix to put it in that holds more of it then even liquid hydrogen. Then I don't see it happening except for niche issues like the hospital.

Make a material that not only concentrated heat into the airship. Yet also gathers energy to heat the air inside, and power the engines, and electric burners to heat the air to even greater tempatures. Basically a hybrid. Does heating hydrogen give it greater lift? I feel like the biggest issue is helium is a finite resource, and I think airships today need to be constantly refueled with it.

@MrArjanOskam Nah, Urban Heat Islands are a thing due to all the concrete and asphalt directly in the sun. On a minor scale. I've been in a newly played black asphalt parking lot. It was 10 degrees hotter. You felt the warm air and saw the shimmers of the heat radiating off the ground. Anyway related. I guess ivy vines on old houses are said to be awesome insulation. I knew a guy who cut this beautiful ivy growth off his house, and he regretted it. Said it was a noticeable different in AC usages.

Agreed. If we could get Pervoskite solar panels significantly cheaper with greater effiency then now. Who cares if they don't last twenty years if they are recyclable. Could replace them every ten. It would probably be better since the technology is improving so fast while getting cheaper. How many people bought solar five years ago just for the price and effiency to drop a good amount!

Waste? Do you know how much waste a US nuclear reactor produces over 60 years? Average size being 1,000MW. The size of an Olympic size swimming pool... Over 60 years. It is like 3x3 meter cube per year. 750 kilograms per year. Add in new technologies that reduces that, and recycle that cutting down the half life. Then I'd argue waste is a product of laziness rather than some huge issue so many people make it out to be. When I learned just how little waste is produced? I was dumb founded how much of an issue people made it out to be honestly.

@anthonypelchat I know a guy who says he had a solar trailer he can pull when he gets his Cyber Truck(when!). He plans on bringing it with him when he goes fishing and camping. He also said he had electric tools for it. Now he didn't get into details on how long it would take to charge it with just solar. He said he can just leave it parked for the day slowly charging. I guess the trailer gets pretty wide when fully deployed. I imagine it takes a while due to voltages. Anyway what a great idea for a bug out vehicle.. Having Solar Trailers that can be deployed would just be awesome for everything from work to vacations.

Go to a landfill, and see what is dumped. Then think out of all the things in the world that are in there... Solar panels are the one you're worried about? That is the hill you're going to die on? Seriously no matter how people twist it. Solar, and wind turbines, are significantly better for the environment. Should see the amount of waste the oil companies do even without factoring in the benefits of not burning fuel.

Honestly I think using different terms is the way to go. Not a liquid battery if most of it isn't liquid either. Trans community take notes fellas and ladies. Hah JP. The thing is though. I don't care if the specs are there. If it is as safe, charges faster, and has high wh/kg... I am all for it. Wondering if CATL has the term condensed battery legally locked down. Quasi Solid State is a dumb term.

I don't like how he didn't compare it to the alternatives much. Last 4 years have been wild weather wise, but geopolitically making oil prices sketchy. Between the Red Sea/Isreal, Russia, Venezuela, etc. Worlds a mess even if we are seeing peak US oil production balancing it out. Wind Turbines are still better than gas even if predictions are off. A company lying about the real cost, unheard of! Sounds like a regulatory problem too. Other countries are doing well. Too bad we don't go nuclear. I am just waiting for pervoskites to go mainstream. Batteries prices are dropping significantly for energy storage as well, and so many technologies being tested. Only issue I have with nuclear is how centralized it is.

That is crazy. Reminds me of... So I am super skeptical about it, but I've read one and a half of a pair of jeans costs the same amount of water to manufacture, as all the lithium required for a small Tesla battery pack. Refined and all. Something like 3 cups of coffee takes the same amount of water as well. I don't know if that means lithium water usages isn't as bad as stated. Or that those products are stupidly inefficient to make. I don't understand how that is true. I can't find the site Google sent me while looking sadly to tell you where I saw it.

No absolutely not. It would be a terrorists wet dream to cause havoc at a major port if they decided to blow it up. A US cargo ship for military and other vital supplies sure. Icebreaks sure. I am all for nuclear energy but don't trust half the governments who are capable of using it to keep it the genie in the bottle with something so potentially harmful. Build nuclear plants to create hydrogen for ships. That sounds like a better idea to me. Then the plants would be guarded on land and ships can come and go as they see fit. Still waiting to see sails come back into the mix. If they save 20% in fuel it seems like a no brainer.

Yeah. Wonder why the don't add solar panels on them. Would be a cool way in cities to get from place to place in a shorter route. I am sure there will be something that is economically viable. As long as it doesn't use Helium go for it as we will run out of it, and it is important for things. Stupid idea but could you put a sail on a rigid airship? Haha.

@dustintacohands1107 I wish I could see what I wrote. Hydrogen could be used as we can make it although the safety standards. Always wondered why we cannot create more helium. I keep hearing anything from 50-100 years we could be out. Hopefully no aircraft nose dives though haha.

@dustintacohands1107 I've seen sail boats go fast as hell off of wind energy alone and freaking pipes that use energy on ships. I feel like we could do it with technology. Use the wind! PS if I replied twice I am sorry.

A UK manufacturer is already making a pervoskite/silicone solar panel with 24% efffiency in the real world. 28% in the lab. "Just have a think" just released a video on it. Even touching on the Chinese. Pervoskites are here, and better. Screw this toxic crap. Even I know Cadmium is not to be trifled with. Imagine having million of houses having these in say... Florida. Getting wiped out by a hurricane spreading broken pieces and leaching into the ground. No thanks.

I was just wondering what the science says on high tempature batteries. Ones that become incredibly energy dense at high tempatures that will beat lithium ion out of the park. I mean we are good at producing heat. I remember reading electricity and high tempatures don't like each other. Yet is that a product of our research focusing on room tempature batteries or a science phenomenon I mean.

I thought the same thing too. Yet I doubt they are taking the quality sand you speak of. Tons of different varieties. I hope they are taking the sand silicon chips are made of. I'm not exactly worried. Once sand actually starts running out? We will figure something out to replace it in concrete. He needs to do a new video covering some of these technologies. I'd like to see this versus salt water detox batteries.

Geothermal might make a come back if millimeter wave drilling has its way. Someone did napkin math with the projections given from the video. Forget which. It was super cheap for a 500mw compared to gas. Quite interesting how low the number was. I need to look more into it. It does look promising. Think Matt did a video on it too. Anyway geothermal is nice since if you also use the heat for heating places on the cheap. I just hope they pair the drilling with the geothermal closed circuit company!

@AbeYousef I feel like sky scapers are so far up high with their own little unique chaotic weather systems. I mean I've seen videos of simulations on what is happening especially in a place with multiple sky scrapers, and it is wild from floor to floor building to building. Sky scrapers may not have issues generating wind speed at all is what I am saying. Controlling it definitely would be the issue. With that said using those empty maintenence floors is a good idea. It would have to be a robust system being able to capture all the chaotic air, and controlling the flow in times of strong wind.

Yeah it is more about less profits then anything. The first time I heard about it? I was like BS. They are just trying to milk the extra profit people now have. Making the grid private was such a ridiculous idea. They get the best of both worlds while having a monopoly in many areas. They get money from the government, commercial, and residential.

Or blue LEDs. Look at where solar is now compared to what it was. Took ages. Tech can sometimes take a while to take off. Yet once it does it soars.

@patrickgoetz I don't think it is just water. Either ultra filtered water. I hear some use mineral water for direct cooling, or were planning on it. Makes sense. Water is cheap, and safe. Even if other mediums are technically better for transferring heat. Not worth the headache or infrastructure. Need more cooling just run more water.

@sci3nceorbust917 What type of liquid metal would be good to use for transferring heat? Never heard of it. I know about molten salts, ultra filtrated water, and hell mineral oils.

@kaitlyn__L I think the difference is that a steam turbine needs heat or steam and pressure. While a Sterling Engine can use the difference in heat. Meaning if you have a geo thermal spot with ice cold water also near it you can extract more power? Correct me if I'm wrong but I think that is where the benefit lays. No idea the pressure required for a regular geothermal plant.

Some of them are ridiculously expensive for no reason. Like the f1 turbine. That is what I was told. I don't even think it is an installation issue either. Think it is 6,000 dollars for just the unit.

Can you make a video on the gas system Helion? In the Real Engineering video comments there was someone who said they worked there on the "gas puff" system. Said it was a complicated machine of valves and pipes. Sounded really awesome, complex, and interesting. I've looked and no video at all talks about how the gas is controlled. Which seems like an important part.

I also heard super capacitors are going to be important for electric flight. Where you have it charged by whatever then unleash it for a boost of power. Like requiring a ton of power so you can take off in an electric arrow plain! Just kidding, aircraft. Graphene just needs to get here cheaply already.

Maybe no need for a turbine! TPV or thermalphotovoltaic cells are becomimg more efficent then turbines! Yet i think you need 2,400 celius. They state over 40% effiency yet I have no clue what the hell that means. 40% of what! Like they work like solar panels, but for heat. So how big of an area do they need to be then? Which that is of course that amount of heat is nothing to what a fusion reactor can put off. Best part of TPV cells is no moving parts either. So maybe we can get even higher efficency with even newer ones. While using AI to help simulate a suitable material.

The funniest thing in America electrical usage has steadily dropped since 2007 except like for 3 years. Where it went up 1%. Also states like Texas... Texas! Love batteries. The growth of batteries to help the grid as a whole for both renewable energy and for natural gas has been pretty staggering. That investment into battery storage is paying off. No clear winners. It is just that batteries I guess are helping them stabilize the grid, but also storing when costs are low, and releasing when costs are high. Anyway if power usage has been going down. There was no reason to invest in power. We are a capitalist society. More companies will now invest in power, and hopefully all these advandces now that demand will be going up. Especially with AI being more power hungry than anything we've witnessed.

@peterwundersitz3715 Yup now power demand should definitely be going up! Mighty ridiculous how much power AI needs. My point was people talk about how the grid sucks when demand has been going down for a long time. Therefore companies saw no need to upgrade. While I am sure chip manufacturers and software designers are going to do their best to lower electricity usage through various means. There is absolutely no foreseeable future where power demand will now be decreasing if AI continues on this path. Kinda weird how it was decreasing overall in the first place with Smart - appliances/phones/EVs. Anyway I read a lot of the bigger tech companies are simply making their own power plants, and I hope more follow suite. Google has geothermal, and Microsoft is even trying to build a nuclear power plant! Makes sense to me for them to drop the middle man. I even hear development of that nuclear plant is going pretty quickly. We shall see... Government red tape and Microsoft aren't exactly great at being on time. I do hope the government starts stepping in though, and doesn't allow local politicans to sell power to AI companies before civilians. Lots of new technologies are getting cheaper. I am not worried. I need to rewatch this one video talking about all the inefficiency in the grid. We waste a ton of power through transmission alone.
