@SGTGGeorge Battery EVs are already just as good as any fuel cell, because we cannot find a way to tackle hydrogens volumetric density issues. The Mirai is heavier than a Model 3, and has less space due to the storage tanks. Very similar ranges if made today with newer technologies. I just don't see anyway past this problem. Especially when there are batteries being produced today with 500 w/kg! To put it into perspective the best Tesla has is less than 296. Many think closer to 260 or even 240. Those 500 w/kg are made by Amprius who is trying to scale up fast. Chinese companies say they have made 500 to 711w/kg batteries. Hydrogens time for being a great energy carrier is just gone outside of niche applications. Even after the volumetric density issue there are others like high cost of a catalyst. Cost of actually producing hydrogen. Zero infrastructure. Troubles storing it. Dangers of leaks. I wish I was wrong, but I'd bet I am right unless some storage medium break through happens.
