Fun fact the SRI 71 Astroinertial Navigational computer (named R2-D2 used stars to navigate. It was considered mission critical as jt was tied into other systems and of course calculated where the pilot should go. It was accurate up to 300 feet, and the the lenses used were sensitive enough to detect stars during the brightest days. Insane what we could do it before modern computers were a thing. While GPS is great and all astroinertial systems like this are making a comeback, because of redundancy and the threat of electronic warfare and (satellites being blown up). I just always found it interesting. Never cared about navigating but its pretty crazy what we can accomplish. The fact people have been using stars to navigate is really impressive the more you think about it. I know I take things for granted but imagine someone showing up with a Sexton and telling you they can navigate anywhere anytime just by using the stars if you didn't know anything about it. You'd think they lost their marbles.
