  1. Wait till 500 wh/kg batteries become mainstream which should be in a few years. You do not get as simple as an electric vehicle. Someone will make one, but given the options consumers won't buy enough. Therfore car manufacturers will cater to the larger, and more complicated designs over time. Regulators do what the car makers want. Consumers elect them. Even IF a simple car was made. I am not even sure if it would be cheap. It is crazy how complicated ICE engines are, but how cheap they have gotten honestly.

  2. Electric vehicles will break this cycle. Someone somewhere will make one, and you can't get much simpler than an EV. He is just explaining a street legal go kart. Can't get much simpler! Put some windows on it and tada. And the funny part about them. They are STILL relatively expensive!
