Electric cars are already good enough for most people, and the potential is insane. I mean the average American drives 40 miles per day. While EVs are getting 300-500 miles per charge. SO! For most people with a home it already is good enough. I personally think their performance is also superior for the price where it counts. Which is having high HP, instant torqure, and improved center of gravity. They will only get lighter, charge faster, increased longevity, become cheaper, and of course increased battery density. Oh did I mention cost to run is cheaper? Gas prices aren't going to be going down significantly. Probably only up. I think in the next three to five years we will see useful semi EVs. CATL is releasing their 500 wh/kg battery now. Others are said to be releasing their 500 plus soon as well. Now with all that said... The biggest issue is charging infrastructure. Everything I said is useless if you cannot charge your car in a pinch.
