  1. I hate both the pro EV and anti EV crowd. Fossil fuel to power plant to EV will always be more efficent. He purposely skipped that I feel like as he rarely misses anything. There are so many steps for us to get gas in our cars which are only 25٪ efficent. EVs eliminate a lot of those steps for one, and power plants are much more efficent at using the Fossil Fuel we do pull. Renewable power only became cheaper recently, and newer technologies promise to lower those numbers even further. So expect that number to rise sharply for any new power generation. So of course the number is low at the moment, but expect that to rise as needed. Third the grid needs an overhaul already. So it already needs money regardless, and beefing it up with newer technologies to handle the influx of EVs isn't a giant leap. If everyone in America drove an EV today? We would need around 35% increase in power generation which is not a small number. Luckily for us no one is asking for us to hand in the keys today. The reason why it makes sense to get off ICE is due to efficiency on how we use that fuel. No it won't be totally green, but some will. Batteries are getting cheaper, hold more charge, charge faster, getting lighter, use less harmful resources, and taking less space. Lithium Air chemistry which has recently been cracked has the potential to be 10 to 50 times better for kwh/kg. That is enough to make electronic planes for anything, but intercontinental flight possible. ICE is pretty much maxed out and won't be getting significantly better. I would like to see series hybrids for niche applications and military. Oh and gas for intercontinental flights.

  2. Sure. For new cars EVs are the way to go. Battery recycling is getting a ton of investment, and some facilities are already up and running. He surprisingly skipped one thing. Refining gas to burn into electricity at a power plant is so much more efficent then refining it. Compared to shipping it everywhere to gas stations, and using it in ICE which are incredibly inefficient compared to electrical motors. So using what we do pull from the earth wisely is what we should be doing yeah? Well EVs are the best solution for that by far. Secondly renewable only recently became cheaper than fossil fuels. The technology actually still has inprovement too, so it will get cheaper. We can turn old fossil fuel plants into nuclear too by the way, reducing the exorbitant price on that. We really should push nuclear anyway. Sure changes to infrastructure would have to happen. Yet our grid needs an overhaul in America anyway so we might as well beef it up. Charging? Well the market and government will find a solution to this. Yeah cities will have chargers like how they have parking meters, but whatever. Cities should focus on getting cars out of the denser areas, and making them bike friendly, and easy to not need a vehicle. None of these are even insurmountable. We could do it in two decades if we focused on it. Battery chemistries like solid state are here, and lithium air are on the horizon which offer potential increases in energy density ten to fifty times more at half efficiency! With those even Electric Planes will be a no brainer except for intercontinental flights. They are becoming cheaper, hold more charge, charge faster, lighter, use less space, more reliable, and last longer... ICE doesn't have much of a future. So with all that said it is a no brainer to get off fossil fuels for us regular plebs ASAP. For long haul trucking? Trains! Ha yeah right. Series hybrids! (Where the ICE is a generator). No idea why only start ups like Edison Motors are doing it. He disappointed me by skipping the power plant efficiency part. He is always thorough. Oh screw anti EV and super pro EV crowd too. EVs have issue like cost, and charging. Yet let us be realistic. Most of us don't drive hours straight every day. God forbid people get inconveinced for having to sit for 20 to 45 minutes to charge. PS this guy online has solar and wind at home. Also has a solar trailer, and a portable wind generator. Once he gets his Tesla Truck (when lol)) he plans to go camping, charging his truck plus whatever when he goes fishing, hunting, or camping. Anyway anti EV or pro ICE are just as bad as the anti ICE. Both extremist are annoying. Me? I'm for whatever technology makes sense, and ICE really doesn't as batteries continue to improve which saddens me.
