Hedge funds like BlackRock are the caretakers of the elite's treasure box. Western liberal elites, esp of the Anglo-American branch. They couldn't buy China and miscalculated. They never wanted to buy Russia because that would topple their order ideologically due to their Orthodox roots and this goes back to the Byzantine Empire and the Venetians/Catholic Church. They probably brainwashed the Anglo-Americans to be Russia's unfaltering enemy. At the end it's geopolitics and empire. Not the colorful communist crap they feed in liberal media as distractions. Liberalism is an amorphous term that changes in order to declare moral superiority. It's amorphous because the real meaning is empire.
