Brothers killing each other at the behest of others instead of putting their relatively petty differences aside is tragic to witness. Children already indoctrinated to spur on the hate for future generations is truly evil. I feel sorry for Russians for having to aim their weapons at Ukrainians. I feel sorry for Ukrainians because they are being utterly devoured by this whole situation in every way. This is happening right on Russia's doorstep, right on Europe's doorstep. The good news is I think the Russians know what they are doing or perhaps its luck. Imo it was good that the Ukrainians retook the north. It will help with any referendums should they take place if Russia reoccupies it. Out of the Russian held territories it was the least pro-Russian if I'm not mistaken. Still predominantly pro-Russian though. Slow and methodical does it. Once the boundaries are set, the war will be against specially trained terrorist cells. I have a feeling the Russians will demonstrate a better performance than what our military did in Iraq or Afghanistan.

Absolutely horrible esp for the Ukrainian soldier. This is genocide for not allowing them to surrender or capitulate.

  26. Ukrainians report rarely which is a clue in itself. Of those reports for example at Kherson which was echoed by the Washington Post, they were slaughtered. Other reports from soldiers say they're getting beaten without seeing any Russians. From the Russian side, they're probably exaggerating/underexaggerating but considering they are at the winning end, the in-between number is closer to the Russian version. The Russians are heavily outnumbered 5:1. Crazy. Ukrainians seem to be attacking in small groups taking advantage of their numbers while the Russians outgun the Ukrainians. Fog of war is definitely on until 300k Russians increase the Russian ranks by almost 3x.

On a grand scale, German troops were on average better trained than the allies. The mortality ratio in ww2 was 2:3 but they lost. They lost the battle of Kursk although suffering less casualties. They lost the battle of Ardennes.

  38.  @Rigardoful  Copium for both sides. The incursion is about 50 km deep and 25km wide. You see it as Russian weakness, the pro-Russians see it as a trap whether it was intentional or not. What is the range of HIMARS? tanks? planes? missiles? There's also a river with bridges both in front of and behind the Ukrainian advance. The Ukrainians seemed to have neutralized the bridges in front of them to interrupt or cut off supply routes. Another half-full or half-empty situation for either side.

Europe certainly doesn't, therefore the US will not step in before they do. Also, Russia could sabotage US operations in Syria and other places. The situation for the Ukrainian populace is getting more critical and desperate. The regimes heavyhanded treatment will only get worse. They're not even trying. They're in lalaland fighting a war with foreign funding while siimultaneously skimming off the support to enrich themselves-many of whom don't have assets outside of Ukraine. If Poland invades, it could mean ww3. I think China, India, will side with Russia. They have common interests. It helps the Russians calibrate their systems to render these weapons practically ineffective. They've become a cost effective disaster. Look past the drama. So Russia is just testing out a modern legion/phalanx structure. Ukrainians are poking at it for pr. I used to think Russiaight have interests to take all of Ukraine but probably its already being prepared to become a Iraq/Afghanistan by the CIA, meaning Ukraine (is already destroyed). Russia would have to gain enough to protect its regions, to be out of the range from artillery at least. The propaganda war could favor the Russians when they occupy the western half as the citizens will see for themselves the difference between the Zelensky regime and the Russians. This will be a delicate situation for both sides-esp Zelensky as the pressure will mount in all aspects. Usually too delicate for going the civilized route. But the CIA trained cells will be there. It will show what they are capable of head to head. This war in the front lines doesn't show that much in terms of a real hot war. I heard though that it has shown the Russians have some enemy/foe detection issues which must be pretty serious.

The difference with this and Borodino? The Russians are losing much less troops with a much smaller army. Do you smell anything? The Russians did the same to the Germans at the battle of Moscow. The Germans thought they had a chance to take it. The Russians ked them on but made them fight for every inch providing just enough reinforcements for the Germans to slowly grind forward. When the arrived to Moscow, in the nick of time, a contingent of fresh special forces finally halted their advance. While the Germans had high hopes to take Moscow, the Russians all along the German approach knew the Germans lost the war. The Germans would learn not much later. This was in winter of 1941-1942 and the war would go on for another 3.5 years.

It would have to be a cold-turkey decision because after that, there are other dimensions added to the war that make things more complicated. 1.The central area of Ukraine is the breadbasket. Does Russia really want to contest it? Because just the mere fact of fighting over it would destroy next year's harvest for Ukraine and its presumed destination-Europe. The Russians could at least save it as a card. This process is better for the Russians if its slow, giving time for the population to digest. 3.as a result of 1, Ukraine would be pretty close to capitulation and not only for the food but due to the destruction or vulnerability of other key infrastructure. It probably won't be as difficult for the Russians as it was for the U.S in Iraq but still quite a challenge. 4.Besides the strategic objectives, a complete victory would be quite a blow to NATO credibility as they've been dragging the populace into a rollercoaster distraction with this war. 5. On the world stage, it would further consolidate Russia's position and encourage more countries to join their economic and strategic alliances like SCO, BRICS, OPEC+, MIR system etc etc. 6. No rush for all this to happen so fast. It needs to be planned and timed carefully. Meanwhile, the economic impact of this war is arguably more crucial. Russia seems to be holding it well. The Russians are no longer outnumbered, or are on equal terms but outnumber their foe. Other interesting thing to note is the disparity in equipment available.
