  2. 1. Robert E. Lee was fighting to keep slavery and 2. I do not have a problem getting rid of the founders statues as well. They may have founded this nation but they were also slave owners and what they meant by “We the People” when writing the Constitution, they really meant “We the People….who are white”. So yeah, you can get rid of them too.

You learn history through books, articles, primary sources, secondary sources, historiography texts, lectures, databases, research, documents, documentaries, and lectures. A statue standing on a town square do not teach history. They are meant to glorify. By your own dumb logic, Germans should keep Nazi and Hitler paintings and murals in their government buildings for the sake of “history”.

These Confederate clowns has nothing to do with the founders of this country and they were against the very ideals the founders wrote the constitution for. These Confederates are traitors, they killed fellow Americans simply to keep the right to own other human beings. These people should not be celebrated or have statues commemorating them in town squares. To make it worst most of these statues weren’t even made during or shortly after the civil war. They were propped up in the early and mid 20th century by racists out of response to the civil rights movement to give blacks equal rights and end segregation. That right there should tell you a lot on what these statues truly represent. And the whole point of freedom of speech is to disagree with whatever issue we have in this country. So we can work to change it. So this whole “if you don’t like it than leave nonsense” is genuinely incredibly stupid. The only people tearing this country apart are people like you who stand by statues of racial hatred and white supremacy. To normal people you are no different from Neo Nazi’s wanting Germany to keep up Nazi paintings and murals.

  9.  @silverhawkscape2677  These statues have nothing to do with what the founders stood for. The simply represent white supremacy. And me not liking these statues is what freedom of speech is. And getting rid of those statues were the result of legal voting by the local legislature. By your own logic if you don’t like it you can leave.
