Told from American perspective. What happened in Europe and elsewhere? Where 625-line standard came from? What did Brits and French use? Most European countries have TV sponsored by the governments until 1980s, so their TV programs were not polluted with commercials; BBC, ARD and other European broadcasters continue this tradition, not to mention the Soviet Union that had no ads whatsoever until late 1980s. Nothing is said about the golden era of TV, at least as it is understood in the U.S., and all the junk that followed. Present-day American OTA TV is unwatchable. To get a glimpse of decent programming of the early 1960s check this out: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLRU6rBx6nmS3Ce31qxosmkB7aV48A2lb6
