  1. What are torqs? Is it a new, yet unapproved, units of measuring torque? Steering column - completely agree, same experience, the plastic cover on the bottom gets in the way. Manual transmission - completely disagree, it is barely passable, the third gear on mine (GTI, not R) is not as clean as other gears, and the first sometimes does not even engage, even from a standstill! The transmission loudly whines on the first gear as if it is a reverse. Gears are long, so if you want to crawl slower than 15 MPH, you need to shift into the first. I bet the synhcros on the first will break at about 30 thousand miles. Ford's manual is also so-so. It seems that manufacturers forgot how to make stick shift.
