  1. BBC - no ads. ARD - no ads. Until the mid 1980s there were no commercial TV in most European countries. The result - you can watch two 45-minute periods with no interruptions. The American sports are made for commercial TV: a 15-second attack, then 3 minutes of ads. I was truly amazed when I watched a World Cup game on over-the-air Fox channel at 7am with no ads whatsoever. This is anti-American; American TV must have tons of crappy ads.
