  4. ty for the info. seems to me that it could have, in fact, been much ,much worse. remember the option was to fight house to house thru japan. that would no doubt leave only a handful of Japanese (if we were successful and possibly 100k more american deaths.) sad as it is the war wouldve claimed 100s of thousands more on both sides if fought conventionally
