  3. most wind turbines are 3 phase , braking is usually done by shorting 2 of the phases out.

  4. just in case you do try wind, check your local area max wind speed, not average as i did. I killed the controller on an $800 northern tool wind turbine in 31 days. West Texas has average wind speed of 13mph but we get it all in 3 months with some months averaging 30-40mph and 60+ mph gusts.
