BOE need to increase it to 20%. The inflation is in double digits, the govt cutting tax and the energy and commodity crunch. UK should not care about a recession its gone long past that, they are going to have depression.

@DANEafc That's what Paul Volcker did in US in 1970s when the US inflation was at 14%, now see where US stands.

@DANEafc ur point is 100% valid but we cannot forecast the destination of the inflation we need to stir it on our own so that it does not overwhelm the system/economy and the people. Give a tough punch to the economy and make it sleep to bring down inflation and restart the economy. This has always worked from the past.

@DANEafc 100% true, the rubella vaccine founded by Germany for the measles was banned in US because it was not found by the US. You can search the web and see the truth. So this goes for all commodities even with current times. Anyways to the current topic if inflation is far higher the banks need to increase the rate hike above the inflation rate and pause to see if it curves, which gives a better perspective on how and what it depends upon and which helps us determine to supply so the inflation comes down. If the demand is met with overwhelming amount the inflation will drop drastically. In the end its all about supply and demand simple economics.

@stevelamprou it needs to reset, the supply and demand are disrupt which needs a recalibration. Who is going to provide at what price and the price does not overwhelm the economy and it's situation is the main point to consider

@immers2410 Paul Volcker increased the Fed to 20% in 1970s when their current GDP at that time was in billions not even in the trillions, now US economy is in the peak of trillions do enlighten me how much the Fed has to raise the rate hike be, do add the extra income of bitcoins and do tell, I'm intrigued. Same calculation with UK or other parts of Europe
