  1.  @ericp1139  There's nothing pro-Russian in the Zaporizhia and Kherson regions. Donetsk and Crimea are questionable, since they had been INVADED in 2014.

  2. It couldn't work anyway. Infact, after the Russian ground forces definitively took Hostomel Airport, they discovered they couldn't use it to bring in supplies. You can't use an airport that's within shelling distance from the frontline. The entire plan was based on the success of the special forces group we've seen in action in Kiev in the first hour of the invasion, to make the government flee the capital, and the Ukrainian regular forces to capitulate. In reality, they make a poor display of themself, and had been easily neutralized.

  3.  @cesaru3619  There are only two main roads from Crimea to the main land, seven in total (counting every little trail) and, of those, only ONE doesn't pass over a major water obstacle. To bottle the Russians in Crimea and don't loose Melitopol and Mariupol (that would had never been taken, had not been attacked from two sides) would have been the easiest task, even for a limited force.

  4. It had not been only successes. In the southern front HUGE mistakes had been done by Ukrainians. There are only two main roads, and seven in total, from Crimea to the main land and, of those, ONLY ONE doesn't pass over a major water obstacle. It would have been easy to bottle all the southern Russian invasion Force in Crimea, and don't loose Mariupol, Melitopol, Kherson and Zaporizhzhia' nuclear plant. Even failing to blow up those bridges, there were only three bridges over southern Dnipro, It only needed to blow up those to not lose Kherson.
