  1. Actually the statement about the umpteenth overpriced 1911 based race gun "changing everything" is pretty ridiculous. An EAA/Tanfoglio Witness Limited Custom, that won countless awards in the same class, has a retail price of $1.539, and it's even multicaliber capable.

  2. In the early days of semiauto handguns, several models with the main spring ABOVE the barrel had been made (see the Frommer Stop, or the Steyr-Pieper). They really had never become winners, partly because the manufacturing accuracy of the time was what it was, so the more complicate ejection through a small window on the side made those weapons less reliable.
