  1. The katana is not a chopping weapon. Trying to "chop" something with a katana, the most likely outcome is a broken katana. Katanas TEND (with many variations) to have a sharper and harder cutting edge in respect to European swords, so they better to cut throug flesh. Unfortunately that means that they, hitting an hard object, get damaged more easily too.
