  2. In this list economy is not considered, but the helmets of the common footsoldiers have to be cheap, so possibly built in a single piece. The most advanced single piece helmets are the single piece sallet and the barbute.

  3. Earlier Viking helmets had the dome made of multiple plates, that's not a good thing. Later ones had a single piece dome, and directly evolved into the cone helmet with nasal.
