What the Nazis do to Arminius had been to transform a Germanic chieftain mostly involved in internal struggles in a champion of German culture and freedom (IE inventing the part about him being held as an hostage in Rome in his youth. Actually we don't know if Arminius had EVER left Germany in his life). What the show did is doubling on the same narrative, reaching peaks that not even the Nazis could.

  2. What really upsets me is, what value it has, even a propaganda victory, if the enemy is weak and stupid? Tiberius had been one of the best generals in Roman history. Germanicus was at least good, and the legionaries were the best soldiers the ancient world had to offer. How much better would have been, even from a propagandistic point of view, to show the Germanics struggle to cope with them and their internal divisions, but ultimately managing to keep their freedom?
