The lorica segmentata plates tended to be pretty thin (0.5-0.8mm) while the helmet was more thick (1-1.5mm) A 9mm NATO projectile pass through a 1mm low carbon steel plate (90 degrees) at any speed above 97m/s. However it needs 322m/s to pass through 2mm of low carbon steel.

@windhelmguard5295 Thumb rule for composite armors is to consider the full thickness of the main plate (or of a single plate if they are all the same) and 50% of the secondary ones to obtain the equivalent thickness of a single plate.
