  1. I would suggest the new Strela 40mm, powered by the same Seagull ST1901 movement of the Seagull 1963 and of the Baltic. It's visually more akin to the original Strela 3017 of the '60s than the 42mm model and, for just $370 it has sapphire crystal and 100m waterproof ( https://www.poljot24.de/en/chronographen/co40cyb.html ) price-wise I think that's hardly beatable among manually winded chronographs. A watch I think you forget is the Certina DS Podium Automatic, powered by the ETA C01.211 (based on the Lemania 5100), retail price $1060, and is easy to find one for well under $800.
